Senior Editor, Brand - New York

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated content creator, writer and editor, and content strategist to work with a team of graphic designers, social media managers, and integrated media specialists on behalf of our major Consumer clients.

This person will work with internal team members and clients to determine client objectives and develop and activate a comprehensive, multi-channel content strategy to meet those goals. An ideal candidate will have a passion for telling strategic and creative stories on deadline, be familiar with digital storytelling across earned, owned, and paid media and be tuned in to what's trending in culture and on social media. Subject matter expertise in Lifestyle and experience working at an agency or in-house at a Consumer brand is preferred.

The Ideal Candidate Would Have:

  • 5-7 years of editorial experience at a media or online publishing company or at an agency or in-house at a Consumer brand on a communications, editorial or social media team
  • A proven track record of working under daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines
  • Excellent interviewing, editing, writing, and grammatical skills
  • Ability to ideate for creative and engaging best-in-class social media content
  • A keen sense of news value and editorial judgment, especially in the Consumer beat
  • Subject matter expertise in the Consumer industry is a preferred
  • Ability to develop content strategies, including setting goals, determining audiences, performing research and competitor audits, choosing channels, and developing editorial calendars
  • Ability to develop creative story ideas and an eagerness to execute them
  • Be able to write sharp, engaging copy on a variety of Consumer topics, in a variety of voices for different audiences and in a variety of content types
  • Knowledge of multimedia storytelling
  • A clear ability to work autonomously, with solid decision-making skills and the ability to identify concerns and issues
  • Can communicate effectively with clients and internal team members
  • Can demonstrate a thorough understanding of web and social media publishing from site structure to overseeing asset management; from editing copy to producing content on publishing platforms (WordPress, Expression Engine, etc.).
  • Ability to create snackable social content using in-app platform features, CapCut or other editing tools

What You Will Do:

  • Lead client workstreams
  • Analyze Consumer client objectives and audiences to determine content channels, and types.
  • Create editorial workflows, develop content calendars, and report on content results.
  • Generate and help produce story and content packages (social posts/calendars, blog posts, thought leadership op-eds, email/website copy, podcast/video scripts and whitepapers).
  • Edit and help oversee editorial calendars - both for websites and social channels.
  • Edit stories from team members and freelancers for client approval and publication.
  • Develop, write and produce short-form copy for social posts across multiple channels.
  • Produce content in CMS such as WordPress.
  • Manage analytics and reporting on web content.
  • Contribute story ideas - from pitch to execution - for multiple digital platforms.
  • Coordinate with other departments and teammates, such as art, media buying, integrated media specialists and more.
  • Mentor Editors, overseeing writing and client communications
  • Work with Vice President, Managing Editor on staffing plans, scopes and team organization

NYC Salary range: $80,000 - $110,000

Where an employee or prospective employee is paid within this range will depend on, among other factors, actual ranges for current/former employees in the subject position; market considerations; budgetary considerations; tenure and standing with the company (applicable to current employees); as well as the employee's/applicant's background, pertinent experience, and qualifications.
