Our greatest asset has been, and will continue to be, our people. We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Automation Project Manager within our US Onshore Resources & Carbon Management, based in the Midland, TX office.

This person would be responsible for managing all aspects of automation construction and commissioning on New Development and Maintenance projects. Responsible for completing projects as per schedule. Perform a variety of tasks including scheduling project timelines, scheduling resources on projects, reviewing engineering design documents, validating facility compliance with engineering documents, red-line documentation as needed, update status reports on projects to leadership. Must be an effective communicator and able to manage multiple projects at a time. Advanced Allen Bradley PLC programming skills are preferred for this job.

Responsibilities:

  • Key participant in project planning meetings
  • Receives and reviews automation engineering technical data for automation commissioning project deployment
  • Ensures process workflows are followed
  • Facilitate alignment and allocation of technical resources to complete projects
  • Communicates construction and commissioning issues with automation engineering
  • Provides red-lined documents to automation engineering where applicable
  • Collaborates across multiple business disciplines (Mechanical and Electrical)
  • Serve as automation team asset representative to Production Ops Business Unit
  • Creates an environment where members of the team make the day-to-day decisions while providing the tools, training, and support needed to make those decisions
  • Ensure working environment is conducive to meeting Business Unit's production and safety targets
  • Remove roadblocks and impediments, foster process improvements with engineering
  • Ensures compliance with Oxy standards and best practices
  • Identify and communicate design challenges and offer improvement suggestions to engineering
  • Identify and enhance inefficiencies of processes and control equipment
  • Participates in continuous improvement teams
  • Affectively engage with and utilize resources internal and external of business unit
  • Participate in technical reviews of assets and/or new business ventures
  • Participate in annual and long-term business planning
  • Participates in staffing plans to ensure adequate staffing level to support business plans
  • Participates in the recruiting, hiring, and onboarding of employees that are a good fit for the position & organization
  • Assist in promoting the development of team members professional and technical skills
  • Assist in Developing and/or managing programs, systems, and practices for maintaining & enhancing a safe, productive, and environmentally sound work environment

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Education: 4 year technical degree or equivalent working experience

Professional/Technical Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of oil and gas automation systems

Experience:

  • 6 + years of Oil Field experience
  • 2 + years of Managerial experience preferred
  • 2 + years of Project Management Experience preferred

Skills & Competencies:

* In depth experience with managing New Development oil and gas facilities/projects

* In depth experience with managing Maintenance and Construction projects

* Valued contributor to business analysis and planning at all levels

* Strong communication skills (verbal/written/listening/presentation)

* Problem solving skills with ability to analyze and recommend solutions on problems of high complexity

* Understanding of Surface Production Equipment and process system controls

* General knowledge of Surface Team, Reservoir Team, Downhole Team, Risk / AI team, IT and HSE

* Advanced level competency in oil and gas automation systems

* Visionary for process improvement and development of new technologies

* Ability to complete staffing plans to ensure adequate staffing levels to support the business plan

* Ability to develop professional and technical skills through coaching, feedback, and training
