Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Assistant Director-Reimbursement.

In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for assisting in the overall planning, organization, direction, and control of the Reimbursement department. Interfaces with various hospital personnel regarding financial issues and analysis. The position will require the individual to assist in the development and direction of personnel and the processing of financial information.

Job Responsibilities:

    1. Develops a partnership between finance and the other operational departments to improve the reporting of information. Identifies and coordinates resources to meet customer needs and deadlines. Communicates clearly and concisely with all customers.
    2. Collects, analyzes and presents complex data from multiple sources to assist in the decision making process. Ensures quality and integrity of data collection and presentation. Efficiently organizes tasks and assigns appropriate resources.
    3. Assists in the direction of the Reimbursement Department. Reviews work performed by direct and indirect reports. Provides leadership and direction by supporting and motivating staff. Effectively assigns tasks to personnel with appropriate skill sets. Develops, implements, and monitors adherence to departmental policies, procedures and budgets. Assigns and prioritizes projects to ensure all filing deadlines are satisfied.
    4. Review and redesign internal processes to ensure the proper use of technology to provide quality information on a timely basis. Assesses time required for completion of required work (individual and team). Manages multiple tasks and projects.
    5. Identifies financial opportunities and risks proactively and communicate findings in a timely and effective manner. Demonstrates creative thinking for developing solutions.
    6. Demonstrates trustworthiness, integrity and initiative. Respects and maintains confidentiality of all information within the Hospital. Self-motivated to take on new tasks or responsibilities with minimum supervision. Takes ownership of responsibility and outcomes. Exhibits a strong work ethic. Possesses a wide range of skill and abilities to meet continual challenges.
    7. Facilitates a positive work atmosphere within finance and respective departments. Interacts with administration, peers, general staff, and other Medical Center personnel in a courteous and professional manner. Assists department directors and managers with any financial questions related to reimbursement. Demonstrates a spirit of cooperation and support for cross departmental objectives. Displays a positive outlook and pleasant demeanor.
    8. Responsible for understanding relevant financial and operational issues. Understands decision support and cost accounting methodologies. Possesses an extensive knowledge of current regulatory and reimbursement issues. Ensures that compliance and regulatory requirements are adhered to and up to date. Possesses a good understanding of reimbursement rate methodologies.
    9. Maintains third party rate accounts. Determine necessary accruals and proper balances. Review Medicare and Medicaid payment rates, Indigent Care Pool receipts, PIP receipts and HCRA pool payments to ensure accuracy and maintain proper accruals as needed.
    10. Coordinate and assist with the preparation of the Federal and State cost reports and other regulatory reports.
    11. Assist with the coordination and preparation of all audits.
    12. Review of regulatory changes and impact calculations.
    13. Assist with the completion of the Medicare wage index and occupational mix schedules.
    14. Assist with the preparation, filing and monitoring of appeals.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance. Minimum of 7-10 years of managerial experience in hospital governmental reimbursement. Must have working knowledge of hospital cost reports, reimbursement rates and the general operations of the hospital reimbursement department. Supervisory experience is necessary.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $110,479.20 - $172,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
