Tectonic is currently seeking a full-time Payroll Specialist to join the Human Resources Department within our Corporate Office located in Orange County, NY. Once fully onboarded, this role may offer flexibility, including flexible hours and a hybrid work environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Process manual employee timesheets and enter them into ADP Workforce Now; this involves reviewing timesheets and ensuring time used and entered is compliant with Company policies and Federal, State, and Local labor laws;
  • Maintain employee data in payroll system, including contact and demographic information, pay rates, direct deposit information, tax withholdings, benefit deductions, etc.
  • Process weekly payroll reports, forms, and backup to support Company operations and weekly audits to ensure accuracy;
  • Review and process employee expense reports, including processing manual check and direct deposit payments;
  • Processing employee benefit time and time off request forms;
  • Assist with administration of 401(k) program, including recordkeeping, reporting, and processing changes;
  • All other related duties as assigned to support the Corporation.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate's Degree or higher in Business Administration or a related field with minimum of 2 years of relevant experience and a solid understanding of the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act, or any other suitable combination of experience of education, training, or experience is acceptable; experience with ADP Workforce Now and processing payroll for multiple states is a plus; the ideal candidate will have experience in processing payroll or multiple payrolls for a total of 250+ employees;
  • Extremely detail-oriented, with the ability to work both productively and accurately to meet daily and weekly deadlines;
  • Excellent computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. Excel usage includes utilizing basic formulas and calculations, knowledge of formatting for software specific imports, sorting, etc.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Able to work well independently as well as part of a team;
  • Good sense and sound judgement in practical matters;
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task effectively;
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding payroll, benefits, and employee issues.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
In order to perform the essential functions of this position, the candidate must be able to constantly assume a stationary position, and must handle and/or feel documents, materials, and/or equipment to perform necessary tasks, sometimes repetitively. The candidate must be able to occasionally maneuver within the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc., and may exert up to 15 lbs. of force occasionally. Constantly, they must be able to receive and convey detailed or important information with others via the Corporate e-mail system, telephone system, and in person.

PAY RANGE
Tectonic's goal is to compensate employees fairly and equitably across all positions Companywide. The offered pay may be outside of the provided salary range based upon the selected candidate's work location, experience, education, certifications, and capabilities compared to the advertised position.
Pay Range: $21.00 - $28.00 / hour
