Basic Function:
To safely setup, implement programs, coordinate the operation of any given machine as well as perform the other duties of a Cell Technician II and III.

Responsibilities:
* Keep safety as a primary focus by working safely, following safety policies and work instructions, asking for help, promptly reporting safety concerns, and utilizing the Stop & Seek program, as required.
* Accurately monitor and record data as requested for SPC, labor reporting, and inventory control.
* Assist in training and help with operation of all Cell Technicians.
* Must have ability to implement new programs to aid in production and quality improvement as requested.
* Revise program or process to compensate for changes in tooling and tool locations.
* Continuously observe machines, fixtures, peripheral equipment, gauging, etc., for obvious defects or malfunctions.
* Continuously observe material and parts for obvious defects while handling, which can cause production problems and damage.
* Program part from blueprint, selecting proper fixturing, tooling, inserts, feeds, to provide sustained production within print specifications, in a safe and efficient manner.
* Analyze inspection data to maintain production in specifications.
* Analyze tooling wear to aid in improving operational performance.
* Support development of processes involving work holding, cutting tools, programming, and peripheral equipment that is introduced into the department.
* Assist in the selection of capital equipment.
* Must be capable of generating or modifying a program utilizing macros and variables.
* Promote and practice 5S + Safety approach by keeping work area neat, clean, and organized, and following safety and housekeeping rules.
* Submit waste reductions/cost avoidances.
* Positively support change initiatives by actively contributing to and participating in lean principles and Kaizen events.
* Positively and actively contribute to High Performance Teams (HPTs) by participating in team improvement boards (TIB) reviews, problem solving and task completion.
* Be a respectful team player and maintain a positive and professional working relationship with all team members and supervision.
* Perform other duties as responsibilities necessitate.

Requirements:
* High School diploma or equivalent.
* Complete required CNC coursework at Kalamazoo Valley Community College - Recognized by the DOL as an apprentice at the end of the program.
* Successfully complete the Cell Technician I Training Program
* Knowledge of terminology related to equipment, methods, tooling, gauging, etc., through 5 + years of machining experience.
* Proficient understanding of blueprint reading.
* Knowledge of basic gauging & measurement techniques
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others and be a participative team player.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal, skills.
* Ability to adapt to changing roles and changing priorities.

Physical Requirements:
* Frequently will stand, reach, pull, push, bend, grasp, and handle.
* Regularly will lift up to 25 pounds.

Working Conditions:
* A loud environment with exposure to or use of some chemicals, oils, dirt, vibration, and moving equipment.
