Role Description:

In the role of Director of Cyber Underwriting, you will be responsible for underwriting and servicing Cyber Liability accounts for assigned territory. Underwriting accountability includes new business production, renewal retention, account servicing and broker/insured relationships that lead to underwriting profitability and revenue growth within the assigned territory

Your day-to-day responsibilities as a Director of Cyber Underwriting will include:

  • Receives new and renewal Cyber Liability accounts which are domiciled in a "Territory" as assigned.
  • Reviews all necessary underwriting information such as, but not limited to, applications, annual or 10-K reports, product brochures, loss experience and claim files to determine the degree of risk involved.
  • Accepts risks on behalf of SNCC that meet underwriting requirements and declines those which are not acceptable under established underwriting standards, policies and treaties.
  • Underwriting subject matter expert related to PolicyCenter AU, PolicyCenter maintenance (all lines of coverage) and PolicyCenter Cyber.
  • Creates and delivers a compelling business case for brokers and risk managers to place their insurance programs, including the Cyber and professional lines (where applicable) with Safety National
  • Establishes and nurtures productive business relationships with national brokers of influence, within the Cyber & Technology sector, in order to establish Safety as a trusted and respected long term partner in the field.
  • Plans and conducts producer and client meetings that are designed to generate a pipeline of account opportunities that will drive desired financial results, through achievement of targeted submission flow, hit ratio and yield ratio
  • Works alongside and in collaboration with Safety's existing underwriting units, including Large Casualty, Excess Workers' Compensation and Safety National Re in pursuit of profitable account opportunities, including both direct involvement in specific account opportunities and broader engagement in presenting the overall value proposition provided by Safety
  • Utilizes the Actuarial Department in order to establish and refine appropriate pricing and reserving strategies at the macro level, while also engaging resources to establish terms at the specific account level.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor's degree required or sufficient on-the-job experience in underwriting. Major in insurance, accounting, finance, or marketing desired.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3-7 years of experience in underwriting large cyber accounts.
  • Exposure to large account cyber UW or brokering.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Must be analytical, organized and efficient.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPCU, RPLU, Security or Privacy designations a plus
  • Must be capable of multi-tasking and prioritizing tasks to meet various deadlines.
  • Must be efficient in computer applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.
  • Willing to travel on business

Compensation for the successful candidate will consider the candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, experience and geographical location.
