BACKGROUND: The International Rescue Committee(IRC) responds to the world's worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. At work in over 40 countries and 26 U.S. cities to restore safety, dignity and hope, the IRC leads the way from harm to home.

SCOPE OF WORK: The IRC is seeking a multifaceted Finance Intern to assist the Finance team with payment processing, vendor management, and data entry. This position will be based in the 38TH street, NY office and will be in office 25 hours a week.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist finance managers in entry and completion of staff time and effort reporting.
  • Manage ongoing list of vendors and liaison vendor setup with Operations Team
  • Assist finance specialists as required with AP/AR processing

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Intern will learn how to effectively manage multiple workflows across Finance & Ops teams.
  • Intern will receive hands on experience with high importance items and deliverables.
  • Intern will have direct communication with both Finance and Program staff and work in a collaborative environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants should be Junior or Senior level Business, Finance, Economics or Accounting majors who are proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Microsoft Excel and able to learn systems quickly. Attention to detail, the ability to multi-task and excellent communication skills are all essential to this position.
