HDR is actively seeking an Assistant Resident Engineer (ARE) to join our growing New York City Water group. The selected candidate will be responsible for construction progress monitoring and coordinating the efforts of the contractors under the supervision of the Resident Engineer, acts in a support role to the RE on NYCDEP water and wastewater infrastructure projects in various locations across NYC 5 boroughs.

Responsibilities:

  • Understanding and carrying out all tasks given by Resident Engineer/Project Manager with the preparation and maintenance of construction schedules.
  • Maintain workflow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables, monitoring personnel and resources, developing reporting procedures and systems; and facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points.
  • Evaluating all processes and ensuring standardization of quality assurance measures.
  • Issue correspondence to subcontractors and vendors when revised plan and/or specifications affects products or services.
  • Effective and consistent communications with contractors to understand the contactor's daily agenda.
  • Oversee all onsite and offsite construction to monitor compliance with building and safety regulations and the use of proper construction techniques.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Technology, or equivalent experience
  • Familiar with NYCDEP processes and procedures.
  • 5 years of relevant experience in construction of infrastructure water and wastewater facilities.
  • Ability to provide solution/consultation in specialized areas, make decisions and solve problems.

Typical starting pay range for this position is $97,000.00 - $139,000.00 annually depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location.
