Job Description

IFF is looking for a Process Safety Management (PSM) Manager to join our team at the IFF South Brunswick, NJ site. This IFF location manufactures flavor ingredients that can be found in consumer products that people across the U.S. and around the world use every day.

In this role you will share responsibly for the overall implementation of site systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and corporate H&S standards with the H&S Manager. The PSM Leader will work closely with all facility personnel to ensure full compliance with the requirements of the OSHA Process Safety Management Standard. This position reports to the Site H&S Manager and offers many opportunities to grow professionally.

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Manage site's H&S policies that define requirements to maintain compliance with PSM requirements and corporate PSM standards.
  • Develop and implement improvements to safety systems, including review of Operational SOPs to ensure compliance with PSM requirements and continued improvement in H&S performance. Manage PSM projects as assigned.
  • Organize, lead, and participate in activities that promote employee ownership and engagement in the site H&S PSM program.
  • Manage the site Management of Change (MOC) program, ensuring proper identification of changes and identifying actions items towards the safe implementation of such changes.
  • Provide in-plant support to site leadership, operators, mechanics, contractors, and technical staff to ensure proper safety evaluation is performed and work is completed within all PSM requirements.
  • Complete routine field line walks (observe and engage) to provide recognition, coaching, collaboration, and training in order to maintain compliance with the PSM standard.
  • Gather data and maintain systems to track MOCs, PHAs, Revalidations, Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR), Mechanical Integrity, etc. as they relate to the site PSM program.
  • Develop, provide and improve safety training to educate site personnel on PSM-related issues. Ensure PSM training for all applicable personnel is effective.
  • Perform internal PSM self-compliance audits to ensure continued compliance with the PSM standard
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.
Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in science and or engineering with two or more years' experience with the OSHA PSM standard.
  • Demonstrated EHS functional/technical expertise with strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations with a strong emphasis on the PSM standard.
  • Excellent leadership skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills: demonstrated ability to work effectively, professionally, and respectfully in a team-based environment to involve peers, customers, line management and technical competency experts.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence teams and resolve conflicts in support of organizational goals.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to train personnel as it relates to the PSM standard.
  • Experience implementing & maintaining site wide PSM-related programs.
  • Computer and technical literacy; demonstrated skill in use of PHAWorks or equivalent PHA software (preferred) and Microsoft Office software (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, Excel).
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.
