Process Engineer (Power & Actuation Systems)
Overview:
We are seeking a process engineer to join our growing team. In this position, you will take responsibility for improving and streamlining workflow in our aerospace level manufacturing facility. Strong organizational and problem solving skills, as well as the ability to see the big picture, are essential for this role.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and lead co-workers
  • Ability to work well independently and with a team
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Visio, ERP systems, and process simulation software (preferred)
  • Must be a US Citizen
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Analyze existing production processes, identify top issues to address, and suggest improvements
  • Perform time studies, analyze the data, and identify areas for improvement and innovation
  • Use process simulation software to improve workflow and balance the production line
  • Examine bench layouts and work with Production Engineers to evaluate the feasibility of suggested changes
  • Coordinate with engineering and quality departments to improve production process efficiencies without compromising quality
  • Investigate and solve problems related to production processes, procedures, and operations
  • Document and communicate all findings and improvements
  • Gain buy-in from engineers and managers to adopt process modifications
  • Lead the effort to implement process changes
  • Coordinate with other departments to develop presentations to customers
  • Participate in manufacturing readiness assessments
  • Alert management to process problems in a timely manner
  • Identify materials and equipment needed and generate purchase requisitions and/or capital expenditure requests to obtain them
  • Follow and adhere to AS9100, ISO 9000, internal, and customers' quality requirements.
  • Perform gauge R&Rs and PFMEAs
  • Develop and write various procedures
Additional Duties / Responsibilities:
  • Implement and adhere to all safety, quality, housekeeping and company policies/procedures to ensure compliance to regulatory and internal system requirements.
  • Bring initiatives and activities to closure in a timely manner through effective interaction with individuals, both internal and external.
  • Facilitate training, as needed, to maintain a cross-trained workforce and to support operational goals and objectives.
  • Contribute to a positive and cooperative work environment through effective communication at all levels internal and external to the organization.
  • Actively participate in team meetings, improvement initiatives, and other programs to provide constructive recommendations and initiate actions to support company initiatives/goals.
  • Consistently demonstrate commitment to company values.
  • Keep management informed in a timely manner of area activities and of any significant problems.
  • Assume responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
  • Ensure that work area and work areas of direct reports are clean, secure, and well maintained.
Work Environment:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to conditions typical of a manufacturing/machine shop environment, including, but not limited to, fluids, fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, noise, and vibration.
  • The duties of this job are conducted in both a professional office environment and a manufacturing/machine shop environment. Use of standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines, as well as appropriate eye, hearing, and foot protection is required as necessary to perform job duties.
  • The temperature and humidity of the work environment may be affected by outside/external temperatures, machining processes, and other factors.
  • This is a full-time position, overtime could be required as job duties demand.
  • Some travel (5-20%) may be required for this position.
Physical Requirements:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Vision and color vision must pass job-required vision screening.
  • The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, and to use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • The employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, stoop, or crouch, and move about the facility.
  • The employee may be required to lift and/or move items weighing up to 25 pounds.
This position is at our Montville, NJ office location.
