Opportunity Summary - Director of Finance
Our client has an exciting opportunity to drive the financial health and well-being of their company as the Director of Finance. You'll lead a team in managing all accounting functions and financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness. From daily tasks to strategic recommendations, you'll partner with leadership to develop and maintain best practices. Prepare for a fast-paced environment where you'll wear multiple hats, tackling everything from general ledger upkeep to crafting insightful financial reports that inform key decisions. This role reports directly to the President and CEO, offering you direct influence and impact.

Essential Duties
  • Ensure precision and punctuality in monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings, prioritizing accurate financial reporting timelines.
  • Consistently apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in all reporting activities, upholding industry standards and compliance.
  • Monitor and analyze departmental workflows, identifying opportunities for increased efficiency and optimal resource utilization without compromising accuracy.
  • Collaborate across departments to validate transaction report data and address any related issues, ensuring data integrity.
  • Provide guidance to staff on the handling of non-routine reporting transactions, promoting consistency and adherence to financial standards.
  • Collaborate with the retained audit team to facilitate a seamless and timely year-end audit, ensuring a transparent and efficient process.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of innovative procedures and features to enhance departmental workflow.
  • Provide training to new and existing staff as needed, cultivating a knowledgeable and proficient team
Financial Reporting:
  • Conducts comprehensive reviews and analysis of financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual basis.
  • Identifies and addresses problems, concerns, and issues within financial statements, collaborating with relevant staff to implement necessary additions, adjustments, or deletions.
  • Ensures the timely preparation and delivery of financial statements and reports.
  • Monitors and enhances work practices and procedures related to financial reporting.
  • Engages in regular meetings with the President to review the company's financial status and strategize accordingly.
Manages the Annual Budgeting Process:
  • Plans and develops preliminary reports as part of the annual budgeting process.
  • Provides guidance and counsel to department heads during budget planning, offering valuable insights for the next fiscal cycle.
  • Analyzes budget submissions for accuracy and consistency, identifying any unusual changes from prior years.
  • Negotiates budget changes and variances in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
  • Finalizes the budget for executive review, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and financial objectives.
  • Provides General Financial Support to Executive Leadership:
  • Manages relationships with financial institutions, overseeing banking matters to optimize corporate financial strategies.
  • Administers corporate insurance matters, including policy renewals and determination of coverage levels.
  • Delivers thorough financial analyses and recommendations to the executive leadership team, supporting informed decision-making across all financial aspects
Oversees Accounts Receivable Management:
  • Manage and oversees an A/R team of 3
  • Conducts thorough reviews of accounts to maintain accuracy and reliability.
  • Approves credit limits above the authority of direct reports, ensuring prudent credit extension.
  • Regularly reviews outstanding balances to uphold receivables at acceptable levels.
  • Monitors work practices and procedures to enhance efficiency and compliance.
  • Assists in resolving challenges associated with difficult-to-collect accounts, leveraging problem-solving expertise.
Oversees Accounts Payable Operations:
  • Manage and oversees an A/P team of 2
  • Review aging schedules and reports to ensure accuracy and timeliness in accounts payable processes.
  • Monitors payment schedules closely, optimizing cash flow management and vendor relationships.
  • Analyzes variance reports to identify and address discrepancies promptly.
  • Oversees work practices and procedures related to accounts payable for continuous improvement.
  • Provides one of two required signatures on all issued checks, maintaining a stringent control mechanism for financial transactions.
  • Cost Accounting/Profitability Analysis
  • Lead a project to transition from costing based on labor hours to machine hours, taking a proactive leadership role in partnering with operations to drive and implement this significant change.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee a robust cost accounting system for manufacturing operations, ensuring accurate identification, allocation, and analysis of production costs.
  • Analyze variances between actual and budgeted costs, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Provide cost data and insights to support cost reduction initiatives, product pricing decisions, and profitability analysis.
  • Work closely with production and engineering teams to optimize manufacturing processes and improve cost efficiency.
  • Perform cost and profitability analysis for business units, customers, product lines, and products
  • Partner with Quality and Operations to identify opportunities to reduce costs and eliminate waste
Job Requirements
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required; Advance designation CPA or MBA preferred
  • Four to seven years of prior experience in the accounting/financial reporting areas in a manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Strong GAAP, Internal Controls knowledge, and cost accounting principles required.
  • Strong interpersonal, attention-to-detail, managerial, analytical, problem-solving, and multi-tasking skills required.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently,
  • High level of proficiency in financial modeling, accounting software, MS Excel, and ERP systems required; Prior knowledge of INFOR-Visual ERP system is desirable.

Compensation and Benefits
