The Business Director of Advanced Analytics (AA) is responsible to lead the analyses of ViiV Healthcare business performance utilizing advanced analytic techniques and big data sources to identify opportunities and risks for the brands and support the execution of our vision and goals. The Director will be a self-starter, capable of identifying a comprehensive set of organizational use cases, their strategic roadmap for capability development and execution to anticipate and address business questions for in-market products. This role will also influence and support the analytics to inform omnichannel strategy required for digital marketing, and optimization of customer experience. They will be accountable for partnering with multidisciplinary teams to analyze key issues and translate outputs from analyses into actionable solutions. The Director will also need to collaborate with additional functions such as Data Strategy and IT to ensure efficient scaling and execution of such capabilities. The individual will bring hands-on experience of advanced analytics techniques such as statistical modelling and AI/machine learning sufficiently to provide direction to the data science team and to discuss the findings with business partners. They will lead a team of 3-5 analytics and data science professionals and report to the Sr Director of US Insights and Analytics.

This role is based out of ViiV's US Headquarters in Durham, NC & is eligible for a full relocation package.

This role will provide/gives YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career, these responsibilities include some of the following:

  • Oversees the Advanced Analytics department and personnel
  • Defines and executes the advanced analytics roadmap and capabilities, aligned with the business objectives and priorities of the commercial function
  • Provides thought leadership in framing the business issue and objectives in a way that can be translate into analytical plans including hypothesis, solution framework and analytic models to generate actionable insights across market segmentation, customer behavior drivers' analysis, omnichannel promotional budget optimization & planning, digital marketing, and patient analytics
  • Leads, at times hands-on, the development of algorithms including segmentations, clustering methods, promotional response, marketing mix, optimization, customer propensity, experimentation standards and methods, web and digital analytics, and customer journey analytics
  • Responsible for promoting advanced analytics techniques-based decision-making in our commercial organization by delivering clear data and analytic stories and ensuring the opportunities and risk are well understood
  • Collaborates effectively with other leaders in US Insights and Analytics and Global Data and Analytics organizations to ensure solutions are aligned to findings across the organization
  • Experience in leading and managing teams of data scientists and analysts, delivering high-quality and impactful results
  • Leads and drives performance with integrity, being a role model for team and peers

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Bachelor's Degree & 8 plus years OR MS and/or PhD & 6 plus years of pharmaceutical experience to include experience in advanced analytics and data science in the pharmaceutical OR life sciences industry
  • Project management experience
  • Leadership experience

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Master's Degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Marketing, or Life Sciences
  • Experience with pharma and digital data sources including, syndicated sales, first party activity, real world data sources such as anonymized patient claims, digital/social media interactions, and unstructured text data
  • Proven leadership experience organizing, managing, and motivating teams of data scientists and analyst to perform in a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • Detail oriented and operationally focused with a track record of improving process and leading through change
  • Experience working with diverse set of stakeholders to achieve meaningful outcomes that create business impact
  • Highly collaborative, with experience of building and nurturing productive networks
  • Ability to navigate complexity and ambiguity to break down complex topics into understandable vignettes
  • Very strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal skills and ability to work in a time and resource constrained environment
  • Excellent communication skills (written & verbal), with the ability to communicate and present effectively to groups and senior leaders
