Job Description:

Amherst College invites applications for the Academic Department Coordinator-Special Projects position. The Academic Department Coordinator-Special Projects is a part-time, casual position with no benefits, starting at $26/hour. Given Amherst's distinction as one of the most diverse liberal arts colleges in the country, the successful candidate will demonstrate the ways in which they bring value to and will work towards supporting a broadly diverse community.

The Academic Department Coordinator-Special Projects (Special Projects ADC) provides part-time administrative support for academic departments in case of vacancies and/or long-term absences. This position will be responsible for a variety of simultaneous administrative assignments within academic departments. The nature and duration of assignments will be determined in collaboration with the Senior Coordinator for Academic Department Support. This position calls for a pro-active and adaptable individual who can assist with all ADC tasks in multiple disciplines, and work collaboratively with diverse groups of colleagues. Additionally, the Special Projects ADC serves as a back-up for special projects in the provost's office.

  • Assist with website maintenance
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

Required
  • High school degree or equivalent
  • One year of related experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, time-management, organizational, and customer-service skills
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently, and work collaboratively
  • Demonstrated high level of attention to detail
  • Sensitivity to issues of confidentiality
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace and/or Microsoft Office (or similar platforms)
  • Experience working collaboratively with a diverse community


Preferred
  • Associate's degree
  • 3 years or more of related experience at a higher education institution
  • Experience working with Workday or other ERP software
