Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is a leading engineering firm with a rapidly growing archaeological team dedicated to preserving and interpreting cultural heritage. Committed to excellence, we provide comprehensive archaeological services to clients across various industries, including the southwest. We are currently seeking a Field Director with a focus on the Southwest and Arizona regions to join our dynamic team.

As a Colliers Engineering & Design Field Director specializing in the Southwest and Arizona, you will play a crucial role in our projects by contributing your expertise in the cultural heritage of these regions. You will be responsible for conducting archaeological surveys, excavations, and analyses, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and providing valuable insights into the history and prehistory of the area.


Responsibilities

  • Exhibit increased experience and/or mastery over same skillset as crew chief.
  • Assess projects for level of field effort required and discuss w/P.I.
  • Assist with coordination of logistics for field efforts of varying magnitudes, including travel, lodging, per diem, vehicle arrangements, access and coordination with P.I.
  • Effectively and efficiently manage the tasks and schedule of multiple crews on a daily basis throughout the field effort of a project or projects at one time.
  • Pre-plan upcoming survey days and adjust schedule as needed due to access issues, weather, and/or direction from P.I.
  • Replenish field equipment for crews as needed.
  • Coordinate maintenance or repair of company vehicles as needed.
  • Conduct monthly company vehicle inspections as required by Colliers Engineering & Design.
  • QA/QC digital data on a daily basis in ArcGIS Online/Collector/Survey123.
  • Present data to GIS team for conversion to needed files and/or report figure sets.
  • Contribute sections of investigation results reports based on field efforts.
  • Assist in completion of digital site forms for submission to state agencies.
  • Assist with any Class/Phase I, II and III investigations under direct supervision of P.I.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or closely related field.
  • Communication and problem-solving skills.
  • At least two years of experience in Cultural Resources Management.
  • Experience in evaluating pre-contact and historic artifacts and features.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability and willingness to travel.
  • Experience using a Trimble Geo7x is preferred.
