Position Summary

At Stony Brook Medicine, a Speech Language Pathologist is a valuable member of our team, who provides clinical services to our patient population. Qualified candidates should demonstrate outstanding clinical and communication skills while adhering to our high standards of excellence. The selected candidate would work collaboratively with our talented team of Speech Language Pathologists and department/hospital staff to achieve excellence in patient care.

Duties of a Speech Language Pathologist may include the following but are not limited to:

  • Outpatient service delivery for infant through geriatric swallow evaluations/therapy and adult communication evaluation/therapy
  • Inpatient service delivery for infant through geriatric bedside swallow evaluations/therapy, speaking valve evaluation/therapy and communication evaluation/therapy for acquired impairments
  • Performance of weekly objective swallow studies (Videofluoroscopic Swallowing Studies and Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing)

QUALIFICATIONS

Required: MA or MS in Speech Language Pathology. NYS License in Speech Pathology. ASHA CCC-SLP Certification. At least 1 year of medical setting and dysphagia experience including objective swallow studies. Candidate must meet Medical Staff Office qualifications for staff privileges. 3+ years of recent full time experience in an acute care hospital to include the following:

  • Minimum of 6 months of full time (or the equivalent) experience in the NICU performing feeding evaluations and treatment.
  • Minimum of 3 months experience performing outpatient infant feeding evaluations and treatment. Proficiency in providing feeding services for high-risk infants and pediatric aversion and behavioral feeding impairments.
  • Independence in the assessment of tracheostomized pediatrics and adults for swallowing and speaking valve candidacy.
  • Proficiency performing infant/pediatric and adult clinical swallow evaluation/treatment as well as Videofluoroscopic Swallow Studies and Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing

Preferred : 3+ years of recent full time experience in an acute care hospital.

  • Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre employment screenings.
  • Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as - $76,500 - $89,633 Base

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents SBUH's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

In addition, all UUP positions have an additional $3,087
