Director, Head of Securities Finance Product Development

We're seeking a future team member for the role of Director, Head of Product Development to join our Markets Securities Finance Line of Business. This role is located in New York City, NY and is Hybrid.

In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways:

  • Lead the Global Securities Product Development team that is responsible for managing a range of products through development, in strategic alignment with the business's priorities. Reports directly to the Global Securities Finance Head of Product, Strategy & Commercialization
  • Considered to be an expert in the securities finance or collateral management product development and provides functional insight to support the solution of complex, operational and organizational problems.
  • Leverages strong market knowledge to integrate the demands of various regions and stay ahead of competitors.
  • Oversees strategy design behind product development and delivery. Develops ideas for new products and generates buy-in from the business to integrate into pipeline.
  • Employs a client-focused, strategic approach to develop the business case for firm offerings in the marketplace through in-depth and complex investigation on client segments and industry environment.
  • Provides oversight around the creation of product development roadmaps and ensures alignment with Securities Finance's strategic business plans.
  • Oversees product development pricing, promotion, distribution strategies and competitive differentiators. Understands the economics behind products and demonstrate business acumen.
  • Manages the product governance process; ensure compliance, legal, governance etc. team concerns are addressed during the product launch, strategy, planning and evolution processes.
  • Acts as champion of the product articulating the strategic importance to the firm. Works with sales and relationship management teams to support sales efforts and close on deals as needed.
  • Supports Global Head of Product, Strategy & Commercialization in allocating resources to support the achievement business objectives and ensure alignment with the annual plan.
  • Three direct reports globally. Directly responsible for the team's performance and profitability. Takes an active role in the development and coaching of team members.

To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:

  • In depth knowledge of securities finance business, along with collateral management and both buy / sell side operational and liquidity challenges.
  • Understanding of securities finance regulations and best practices
  • Ability to work well cross-functionally with IT, operations, trading, sales, other businesses, vendors, and clients at all levels.
  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Advanced/graduate degree preferred.
  • 7-12+ years applicable work experience in a securities finance, collateral management, or sell-side asset structuring role preferred
  • In depth knowledge of securities finance landscape including client types, software providers, and industry utilities.
  • Experience in product management, operations, or trading preferred.
  • Product Leadership Certification preferred.
  • MBA or CFA preferred.

BNY Mellon assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $147,000 and $273,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNYM total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
