ABOUT THE JOBThe Operational Risk Manager - Payment Card Oversight has overall responsibility for second line oversight of Key Bank's Payment Card offerings, including credit, debit and prepaid card programs. Through effective partnership with business leaders, risk partners, and demonstrated expertise in Card oversight strategies and risk management, this position is responsible for ensuring the respective first line areas are operating as intended, within Key's established risk appetite and in accordance with rules, laws, and regulatory expectations. Additionally, this position is responsible for providing specialized guidance on current and emerging legal, regulatory, and operational risk issues, and credible challenge regarding risk identification, risk assessments, control design, monitoring, measurement (e.g., KRIs, metrics), and providing oversight of the remediation of control gaps, issues/events, and findings. Role may also include support of other and various Treasury related products as needed from time to time. The qualified candidate must demonstrate strong leadership, influence, and ability to work independently, collaborate, and use sound judgment considering prudent risk management principles, regulatory requirements, and business objectives. This role reports directly to the SVP, Payments Operational Risk Core Products Director.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Develop and manage second line of defense oversight processes to ensure efficiency and continued adherence to regulatory guidance, rules and laws related to credit, debit and prepaid card programs.
  • Drive strategic direction and focus areas for second line oversight of Payment Card relationships across risk disciplines.
  • Develop/maintain strong positive working relationships with business leadership, staff, peers, other risk partners and senior management.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) on operational risk and control matters for Payment Card businesses through partnership and credible challenge in alignment with KeyCorp's Policies and Programs, risk and control self-assessment (RCSA) process, testing, metrics (e.g., KRIs, EWIs, Tolerances), and identification and remediation of findings.
  • Serve as subject matter expert on card Operational Risk requirements, industry trends, and best practices. Maintain relationships with industry peers and regulatory bodies.
  • Evaluate new or amended legal and regulatory requirements applicable to Payment Card risk and partner with business leaders to perform applicability and gap analyses.
  • Assess aggregate risk within the Payment Card portfolio, identifying trends and emerging risks.
  • Analyze and provide feedback regarding risks associated with outsourced processing relationships and other activities impacting KeyBank's Card business.
  • Effectively present results and findings from independent assessments and gain buy-in to influence any necessary change.
  • Escalate promptly to appropriate senior management any material breaches of applicable laws, rules, policies or standards with actual or potential operational risk impact, and necessary correction action.
  • Develop and deliver reporting to senior leadership and governance committees, as needed.
  • Oversee and/or and deliver training to line of business personnel, Risk Management staff and others on regulatory matters, third party and operational risk best practices to enhance organizational understanding of third-party risk trends, risk identification, and control requirements.
  • Respond to internal and external audits, exams and requests for information. Assist in the evaluation of audit and examination findings and implementation of corrective action and needed responses.
  • Provide leadership and/or support on special projects, as assigned.


Responsibilities

  • Lead the oversight activities of assigned Lines of Business in their ability to identify risks, develop assessments, provide input over controls and testing, advise on and monitor remediation activities and create reporting.
  • Responsible for primary management of Operational Risk in working with the LOB to set strategic direction and implementing operational and compliance policies for business divisions within Key.
  • Responsible for assisting with the ongoing development and implementation of the Major Line of Business (LOB) Operational Risk teams strategic plan to accomplish its Annual Operational Risk objectives, to include among others: the development and implementation of Operational risk policies and procedures; assessment, monitoring and testing; establishment of line of business accountability and escalation and reporting processes.
  • Responsible for ongoing development and implementation of operational risk management topics, including such things as being the subject matter expert on operational risk activities associated with risks, controls, testing, remediation and reporting.
  • Provide direction and deliver training to line of business personnel, Risk Management staff and others on regulatory matters, compliance policies and procedures, operational risk best practices and other industry best practices.
  • Monitor and assess new or amended legal and regulatory requirements as they relate to relevant LOB business processes. Accountable for ensuring that policies & procedures and associated Risk Management programs are consistent with current applicable rules, regulations and laws. For LOB policies and procedures, responsible for review and challenge of the policies to ensure that they are consistent with current applicable rules, regulations, and laws.
  • Work with the LOB to ensure the ongoing development and enhancement of risk assessments, testing, monitoring and associated plans.
  • Responsible for staffing and developing processes to fully implement the Operational Risk Management programs for assigned LOBs.
  • Provide strong leadership, mentoring, and guidance to subordinates, peers and other members of the LOB team as well as other members of Risk Management.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • An Undergraduate degree is required, advanced degree/s desired and would be a plus
  • Minimum of 7 -10 years of relevant industry and professional experience (e.g., payments, merchant services, Card Brand or Network Compliance, credit / debit / prepaid card issuance and processing, risk management, audit, third party risk, operational risk, compliance, information security, etc.)

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $125,000 to $155,000 annually depending on location and job-related factors such as level of experience. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for short-term incentive compensation and deferred incentive compensation subject to individual and company performance.
