New York Life Investments seeks an Associate with an investment banking and/or corporate finance background to join its strategy and mergers & acquisitions (M&A) group. The team supports the CEO and Management Committee of New York Life Investments on strategic initiatives critical to the organization, including M&A and business strategy projects.

Key Role Responsibilities and Functions

  • Work closely with senior leaders on strategy development, implementation and communication
  • Conduct market and industry competitive research to assist in developing business strategy
  • Create, design, and coordinate the development of internal and external presentations (both strategy and M&A), including presentations to the NYLIM Management Committee, New York Life Executive Management Committee, Investment Committee, and/or Board of Directors of New York Life
  • Assist in analyzing and executing on M&A opportunities from deal sourcing all the way to transaction completion (evaluating business plans, conducting due diligence, valuation & financial modelling, preparing senior management / Investment Committee materials, etc.)
  • Develop financial models, business plans, and other analyses for both M&A opportunities as well as certain strategy projects
  • Work with business units to implement cross-functional strategic projects
  • Coordinate activities among senior management teams, investment boutiques, business units and other stakeholders

Skills

  • 3 to 4 years of experience, preferably in investment banking, management consulting, and/or asset management
  • An interest in the asset management industry
  • Strong analytical skills (financial modelling, valuation, corporate finance)
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Self-starter, high energy, hard-working entrepreneurial attitude
  • Detail and results oriented
  • Strong project management skills
  • Exceptional Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word capabilities

Salary range:$102,500-$152,500

Overtime eligible:Exempt

Discretionary bonus eligible:Yes
