The Medical Staff Credentialing Coordinator will coordinate the reappointment application process and will be the primary contact with the applicant through their final appointment to the Medical and Dental Staff in compliance with its Constitution and Bylaws and Rules and Regulations and policies, as well as with the appropriate accrediting and regulatory agencies. The Medical Staff Credentialing Coordinator is the front line person for ensuring that we have the most qualified providers for patient safety.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and organizes all information needed for the re-credentialing verification process.
  • Reappointment: (approximately 400-450/year) 2-year cycle based upon initial date of appointment.
  • Obtains all needed signatures and documents from appropriate specialty departments.
  • Follow up on low or no volume practitioners, extract activity case logs.
  • Research and primary source verification of all components of the re-credentialing file as designated; identifies issues that require additional investigation and evaluation, validates discrepancies and ensures timely processing and appropriate follow up according to re-credentialing checklist
  • Supports required data entry/maintenance into credentialing software in a timely and accurate manner to maintain and monitor credentialing program operations and to ensure consistent, accurate data is available to multiple downstream applications.
  • Collaborates with Manager and Department Chairs and other key staff members in support of an ongoing performance improvement and reporting process that is accurate, timely and action driven.
  • Responds timely to all requests on all practitioners coming up for reappointment.
  • Verifies licensure, education, training, as designated by policy and bylaws.
  • Provides support to manager and team in supporting practitioner competency as needed (i.e. focused and ongoing professional practice evaluation (FPPE/OPPE) activities.
  • High volume incoming calls , fast paced environment, minute recorder, support medical staff functions.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
  • A minimum of five years of strong administrative experience.
  • Exemplary organizational skills, ability to maintain extensive and accurate filing and record keeping. Demonstrates attention to details and is able to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Exemplifies excellent customer service skills, ability to communicate clearly and effectively with physicians, physician office staff, representatives internal and external customers.
  • Adapts to frequent interruptions by demonstrating the ability to be flexible.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Associate's Degree.
