City Cruises is seeking an In-House DJ for our operation in New York.

About the Opportunity:

The successful Cruise Director / Disc Jockey (DJ) acts as the emcee of the cruise, providing information to guests on features of the vessels and available activities, playing and mixing music, and overseeing gaming equipment and leading interactive activities for guests. The Cruise Director / DJ is engaging and able to assess and exceed the entertainment expectations of our guests.

About You:

This person will be adaptable, dynamic, and embody City Experiences' RESPECT Service System.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for coordinating all factors related to vibe, atmosphere, ambiance and cruise flow-responsible for executing all cruise flow elements and practices in accordance with training manuals, concept guides, and schedules.
  • Stay current and implement directives, scripts, interactive elements, and instructions from Corporate and city senior leadership:, including social media, sweepstakes, and special occasion announcements.
  • Must adhere to standard cruise timelines and flow, and implement corporate, wedding and private chartered timelines per client request
  • Interact and communicate with guests.
  • Provide world class music as DJ per cruise program-music choice to be custom arranged as suited for demographics, age groups, and season, in accordance with program guidelines.
    • Control sound levels in accordance with training manuals and concept guides.
    • Provide entertainment and music for the entire deck and not aimed at smaller areas such as dance floor or groups.
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization of DJ booth-must be kept tidy and free of non-relevant personal and/or other boat equipment and supplies.
  • Act as emcee of cruise in accordance with Entertainment program guidelines; act accordingly per cruise changes.
  • Oversee placement and functionality of all outer deck and indoor games.
  • Maintain onboard equipment and preserve functionality by ensuring proper power-up and power-downs on each cruise.
  • Function as guest experience coordinator in planning and during cruises.
  • Participate in all pre-cruise briefings hosted by Restaurant Manager and responsible for reviewing all cruise details pre-cruise.
  • Must be available for client meetings as deemed necessary and communicated by F&B and/or city leadership.
  • Communicate with Restaurant Manager Supervisors to ensure all products, music and cruise flow components are aligned.
  • Proactively participate with planning and execution of customized cruises for full ship charters, decks charters or as described by city leadership.
  • When instructed, accept the role as lead Cruise Director for the cruise.
  • Safety Ambassador- Observe and report as needed any safety and security hazards.
  • Additional job duties as assigned.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must have a least two (2) years of disc jockey (DJ) experience or two hundred (200) DJ sets of two (2) hours or more.
  • Must possess exemplary knowledge of music genres, styles, trends and hits, must continually stay current with music and entertainment trends and news.
  • Must have advanced song-mixing knowledge, and BPM matching ability.
  • Must have advanced knowledge of; and experience working with entertainment equipment including light boards, projectors, TVs, mixers, mics, speakers, battery backups, matrixes, switchers, clickers, remotes, decibel meters, and controllers.
  • Must have impeccable microphone technique, clear speaking voice, and exude confidence and energy.
  • Fluent and effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Available to work evenings, weekend and holidays.
