Summary:

The Child Mind Institute is seeking a Director of Clinical Science for the Child Mind Medical Practice (CMMP) and School and Community Programs (SCP) who will lead efforts to integrate science and clinical practice across these programs. The person in this role will lead efforts to evaluate the effectiveness of services, support quality improvement, and conduct clinical science that is disseminated to professional, funding, and community audiences. The applicant will have experience in program evaluation, study design, and leading data collection efforts, analysis, and communication of empirical findings. Efforts will guide program improvement, secure grant funding for future projects, and drive new programming. These activities should generate opportunities to present and publish results.

Dually reporting to the Clinical Director and the Vice President of School and Community Programs, this is an exempt, full-time position based at our NYC headquarters.

Responsibilities:

• Lead efforts to strengthen the integration of clinical science and practice in CMMP and SCP.

• Oversee preparation of manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals and presentations to professional and community audiences.

• Coordinate existing data collection efforts to enhance program evaluation and review of outcomes for clinical patients.

• Develop future plans for empirical study of clinically relevant questions in CMMP and SCP in conjunction with Clinical Director and VP School and Community Programs

• Coordinate with IT in order to utilize appropriate, protected and safe methods of data collection, storage and analysis.

• Lead the development and implementation of data collection and data management protocols that promote data security, accuracy, and timely completion.

• Manage the selection and/or development of survey instruments, interview guides and other data collection instruments to meet research and evaluation goals.

• Analyze and interpret data to inform quality assurance and program improvement, and to communicate program impact to outside stakeholders, including current and prospective funders.

• Oversee development of and adherence to IRB protocols

• Manage Data Analyst and the evaluation team for School and Community Programs by providing technical and evaluation guidance as needed, promoting professional development opportunities, and assigning roles and responsibilities.

• Review and design program evaluation protocols employing mixed methodology with a focus on measuring program reach and evaluating the impact of initiatives (direct clinical care, professional training, state-wide public education and advocacy efforts)

• Oversee the maintenance of weekly dashboards documenting program reach for internal and external stakeholders.

• Collaborate with other staff on the reporting and visualization of program data for grant proposals, grant reports, and outreach materials.

Qualifications:

• Doctoral degree required in education, public health, psychology, public policy or related field

• Graduate level work experience in data analytic techniques, program evaluation or research design, statistics, measurement, or related data analysis fields.

• Experience with community-engaged and mixed-method research.

• At least 3 years of managerial experience supervising, mentoring, and overseeing the work and professional development of junior-level and senior-level analytical staff

• Over 3 years of demonstrated experience leading the analysis and interpretation of data, particularly clinically relevant data, program evaluation and researchand mixed method data sets

• Experience developing and managing data collection tools and processes

• Intermediate to advanced programming skills in SAS, R, or similar analytics software

• Demonstrated experience in publishing in peer-reviewed journals

• Experience developing IRB protocols

• Demonstrated experience in grant reporting for government agencies and private funders (e.g., NIH, CDC, Foundations)

• Experience incorporating social and behavioral theories and implementation science frameworks into study design

• Ability to effectively communicate with analytical, programmatic, and executive leadership staff
