Job Description
Counselor, Summer Program

Summary:

The Child Mind Institute is seeking highly skilled and motivated individuals to join our team as Counselors for our Summer Program for children with Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Oppositional-Defiant Disorder, and related learning, social, and behavior problems. The Program is offered as a four-week immersive summer session each year. Counselors for this program are trained to use empirically supported behavior management techniques to work with children with disruptive behavior concerns, encouraging them to engage in positive and pro-social behavior as they interact with other children and adults.

Reporting to the Summer Program Director, this is a highly competitive unpaid internship position located in Manhattan (additional information regarding location will be provided at interview and before positions are officially accepted).

Therefore, we strongly encourage applicants to independently investigate stipend programs through their college placement offices and to pursue college study credits for this experience. We can provide any requested documentation to assist students in getting stipends and college credit.

We're dedicated to transforming the lives of children and families struggling with mental health and learning disorders by giving them the help they need. We've become the leading independent nonprofit in children's mental health by providing gold-standard evidence-based care, delivering educational resources to millions of families each year, training educators in underserved communities, and developing tomorrow's breakthrough treatments.

The Child Mind Institute is proud to be named a company!
