Summary:

The Child Mind Institute is seeking an Internship Coordinator for the Youth Mental Health Academy to support with defining and assigning internships to the YMHA students, monitoring and tracking the success of the program.

The YMHA is a unique, exciting, multifaceted program with the goal of identifying under-represented minority and disadvantaged high school students and helping them realize their potential to join the workforce with careers in mental health science and practice. Through this 14-month program, high school-aged participants in the YMHA will be provided a range of workshops, immersive mentoring, and networking opportunities. This position provides the opportunity to engage with a broad range of clinicians, policy makers, researchers, and community leaders.

Reporting to the Associate Program Director, this is an exempt, full-time position based in Los Angeles.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Identifies internship employers, solicits their involvement in our internship program, and acquires their internship materials for our internship files.
  • Develops internship information handouts.
  • Monitor quality of placements and conduct internship site visits during the summer program
  • Serves as a liaison between YMHA and internship provider.
  • Provide active leadership to the Internship Program (staff and interns) through supervision and reviews, consultation, training and support in accordance with agency values and guidelines.
  • Liaison to internship programs working with faculty and staff to promote cooperative relationships that will result in internship opportunities.
  • Maintains and updates internship program information as necessary.
  • Proactively evaluate individual and overall program performance on a regular and ongoing basis; use collected data and information to make needed improvements.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field
  • minimum 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Must display strong analytical, problem-solving and operational support skills
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities
  • Demonstrated strategic and critical thinking
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), systems thinking, and some understanding of financial and organizational management
  • Strong organizational skills and computer proficiency
  • Ability to work productively within a high functioning team structure
  • Ability to effectively and clearly communicate with students and employers about the internship program
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and flexible
