Position: Set-up Attendant I

Department: Set-up

Reports To: Process Leader

Shift: Rotating Days & Nights

Pay: Starting at $17.64 per hour , $19.84 per hour after 90 day probation period.

POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Process Leader this position is responsible for performing all pre-press functions as related to cylinders and all parts needed to changeover presses in a safe and efficient manner.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Must work safely at all times, following all Plant and Division Safety rules and policies.
  • Perform all functions in accordance with specified safety procedures and designated PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
  • Maintain all Company health and housekeeping GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) standards.
  • Assemble parts and pumps accurately.
  • Set up the cohesive unit (reverse unit).
  • Assemble/Disassemble all printing trolley parts.
  • Demonstrates ability to repack bearings.
  • Operate Renzman and PRI.
  • Demonstrates proper handling of hazardous waste and follows all associated documentation requirements.
  • Inspect cylinders for damage and flaws.
  • Consistently set up cylinders with correct rewind.
  • Responsible for the overall quality of completed set-ups.
  • Reads and interprets order specifications and condition sheets as related to set-up.
  • Proficiency in assisting with press changeovers.
  • Operate forklift as required.
  • Maintain organized and clean work area.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to the spirit of total quality and continuous improvement in performing the essential job functions of the position.
  • Performs other duties assigned or as the situation dictates.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with others.
  • Regular attendance required. Work overtime as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required. Ability to follow directions and complete assignments in a fast paced environment. Ability to accurately use a ruler/perform measurements. Must have the ability to maintain logs/records in a legible, accurate and timely manner. Must demonstrate desire, ability and initiative to advance in department progression. Must demonstrate willingness to be a team player. Must have or be willing to obtain certification to operate fork lift.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Physical Demands: Standing for extended periods of time. Heavy work requires exerting up to (50) pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to (50) pounds of force frequently, and/or up to (20) pounds of force constantly to move/lift objects. Visual acuity required.

WORK CONDITIONS SPECIFIC TO THIS POSITION: Work is usually performed inside; however, occasionally employee may be exposed to external weather conditions. Work performed in the plant is in areas near operating equipment and chemical usage; appropriate training, including Right-to-Know training is provided. Atmosphere may contain fumes, odors, dusts, etc. Noise levels fluctuate according to proximity of operating equipment. In accordance with the Sonoco Safety Program, all employees receive informative training on required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), chemicals and equipment used within the warehouse and plant. Appropriate safety equipment is provided.
