Investment Risk / CFO

The Risk function within the DWS CFO division is an independent function responsible for protecting the Business as well as being a trusted adviser and partner for supporting sustainable business growth. As part of the Risk function, the Investment Risk team is in charge of independent risk oversight for DWS client portfolios. In this role, it designs and executes the risk programs to identify, measure, control, and manage market, liquidity, sustainability, and counterparty risk of fiduciary portfolios. This includes the regular monitoring, analysis, and reporting of risk to Portfolio Management and internal and external oversight bodies.

Role Details

The role of the Investment Risk - Senior Risk Analyst focuses on the assessment, control, and governance of investment risks taken within commingled investment vehicles (funds and ETFs) and separately managed accounts. The role focuses on market, counterparty credit and liquidity risk while also taken into account other risks the product or its investors may be exposed to.

As a/an Senior Risk Analyst, you will (be):

  • Conducting risk monitoring and analysis on a set of portfolios for varying mandate types (active, passive, liquid alternative) with broad underlying exposure types (fixed income, equity, commodity, derivatives)

  • Producing, analysing, and reporting Value-at-Risk, Tracking Error, Liquidity Ratios, Transaction Costs, and other strategy specific risk metrics

  • Supporting the maintenance of risk data

  • Contributing to special projects related to risk framework or other identified risk issues

  • Contributing to the enhancements of risk tools and framework

  • Preparing Investment Risk materials to be presented at oversight committees

  • Supporting the preparation of Fund Board materials on the various risk programs

  • Supporting due diligence of external sub-advisors to qualitatively assess risk management processes

  • Documenting risk processes, methodologies, and risk assessments

We are looking for

  • University degree, preferably in Mathematics / Statistics / Quantitative Finance, or similar background

  • Minimum of 2 years of proven experience in financial industry (Risk Management, Portfolio Management, Valuation, Vendor of Risk Analytics)

  • Experience with analytical models for financial instruments

  • Experience in process design & implementation is considered a plus

  • Experience with risk systems and models from vendors is considered a plus

  • Strong knowledge of financial instruments including related analytics and risk factors

  • Strong analytical (quantitative and qualitative) and communication skills

  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint

  • Programming skills (e.g. Python) as well as database usage (SQL)

  • Interest in working in an international environment with excellent command of English language

  • Proactive mind-set to propose improvements and new solutions

  • Knowledge about regulatory frameworks for asset managers and different portfolio management strategies is considered a plus

The salary range for this position in New York City is $83,000 to $137,000. Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's skill set, experience, education and other qualifications. Posted salary ranges do not include incentive compensation or any other type of renumeration.
