Position Summary:
The
Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at the New Jersey Institute of
Technology seeks applications for an adjunct instructor to teach introductory
courses in the field of science, technology, and society. Among the issues
explored are the politics of science and technology, the social construction of
technology, the creation of technoscientific knowledge, the role of race and
gender in science and technology, and the challenges of expert knowledge in
society.
Essential Functions:
Under
the supervision of the Chair of the Department of Humanities and Social
Sciences the adjunct instructor will teach one or two courses per semester.
Prerequisite Qualifications:
- Candidates should have a Ph.D. or other advanced academic degree in science and
technology studies, philosophy, sociology, political science, or closely
related field.
- Key criteria for selection will include experience teaching university-level
courses in science, and technology, and society.
- Applicants should be prepared to teach on a face-to-face basis.
- At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
