What is the Opportunity?

Global Database Systems is hiring a Sr. Mongo DB / PostgreSQL DBA will be responsible for the day-to- day support, projects, changes and problem management. Ensures completeness and integrity of Projects, changes and Problems via key tracking tools while adhering to Service Level Agreements. Acts as a Leader in the region and Database Technical Specialist in Performance and Tuning, along with regular operations. The role involves setting an example in streamlining and automating processes by removing redundancy across the regions to evolve to be a "Team of One", as mandated by Global Database Systems. Assist in Unix or Linux server administration regionaly as required. All responsibilities are carried out in accordance with RBC Code of Conduct, RBC Values and Guiding Principles.

What will you do?

  • Provides business with day-to-day stable, and optimally designed, tested and implemented database environment that allows continued growth of our business partner's globally.

  • Ensure that all databases environments are deployed, maintained and managed via proactive monitoring of performance and capacity planning.

  • Interface with application development /support teams on production/development issues to ensure that all database related issues are resolved to completion and business partner's satisfaction.

  • Maintain, enhance and ensure complete adherence to RBC Global Database standards, policies and procedures with supporting documentation for DB.

  • Implementation/Support of databases, storage structures, replication, Clusters, logical partitioning, and disaster recovery solutions

  • Provide DBA support for enterprise monitoring, backup, alerting, and security compliance solutions for database servers.

  • Develop processes for optimizing database governance & security, costs, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of cloud database architectures. Database teams automation and monitoring.

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have

  • 2+ years' Experience in MongoDB / 4+ years' PostgreSQL database installation, deployment and upgrade procedures, database performance tuning and Query optimization

  • Has a degree in Computer Science or equivalent with 5+ years professional experience in financial industry

  • Developer mindset with 5 years programming skill in Ansible, Python, Java or C/C++

  • Develop reliability as a feature, Alerts optimization to product needs and building self-healing mechanism, Define SLI's/SLO and Error budgets, Incident Response, and conduct blameless postmortem/RCA.

  • Has excellent communication skills (written and verbal) to properly articulate complicated problems and resolution plans to management partners, and/or customers.

  • Experience in building platforms to operate at Multi region around the globe with focus on high availability, reliability and scalability with better TCO focus.

  • Has a passion for excellence, is a natural problem solver, and a critical thinker.

Nice to Have

  • Cloud Database knowledge of platforms like Diamanti, Nutanix, Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift and Azure

  • Developer mindset with skill in Ansible, Python, Java or C/C++

  • 5+ years Engineering of Enterprise grade Database systems such as Sybase, Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, and. Open-source Databases such as MySQL etc., In-memory caches, Key-Value Databases and Graph Databases.

  • Strong Hands-on Experience automating Database Image builds and orchestration using Packer, Terraform & Ansible

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $110,000- $190000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate's experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs.This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
