Job Description

We're looking for a Director to lead and grow the teams designing our infrastructure monitoring , Logs, Digital Experience Monitoring and Data Monitoring products -these product areas are the heart of the Datadog ecosystem. We design tools that give engineers access to real-time data about their Infrastructure, applications and functions to troubleshoot problems and improve performance. Our designers know how to creatively display dense, high cardinality data in both tabular and visual ways.

As a Director you'll lead and grow talented teams of designers, multiple managers and help ensure the right balance of skills and sub-disciplines on your design teams through mentorship and hiring. You'll help define new products, lay the groundwork for new and exciting experiences, and help scale the design organization with new systems and processes. You will also partner with ENG, PM and other design teams to deliver UX strategy that significantly improves product experiences.The team is made up of full-stack designers, owning all aspects of our work from research, prototyping, polish, and visual design-and we collaborate closely with engineers on implementation.

What You'll Do:

  • Manage both managers and individual contributors, growing teams of exceptional designers and ensuring they deliver high quality, timely work and that they're happy, motivated, and growing
  • Drive change through data - resulting in improvements to the Datadog experience.
  • Ensure the right balance of skills and sub-disciplines on your design teams through mentorship and hiring
  • Support and improve the work of your team with regular design reviews and collaboration sessions
  • Own your team's priorities, planning and execution, connecting them to larger business and product priorities
  • Build consensus across diverse teams through user-centric solutions and effective communication.
  • Effectively communicate and present solutions to user problems across the organization and senior executives, as well as to large groups of end users.
  • Own quality of user experience for your area.
  • Work with the product team to plan the future of the product
  • Work with other managers across the company to deliver cross-cutting projects
  • Contribute to shaping the future of the design organization

Who You Are:

  • At least 3 years of experience managing managers of teams of product designers
  • At least 13+ years of experience designing digital products
  • You have designed enterprise software and/or developer tools
  • You understand cloud infrastructure and have experience with platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure
  • You have prior experience working with design systems at scale
  • Your portfolio includes a proven track record shipping product design work for products
  • Your management experience includes OKR planning and feature prioritization
  • You give and receive feedback well, and support and improve the work of your colleagues
  • You have a BS/BFA/MA/MS in a related design field or equivalent experience
  • You want to work in a rapidly changing, high-growth environment

The reasonably estimated salary for this role at Datadog ranges from $225,000 to $290,000, plus a competitive equity package, and may include variable compensation. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience. In addition, Datadog offers a wide range of best in class, comprehensive and inclusive employee benefits for this role including healthcare, dental, parental planning, and mental health benefits, a 401(k) plan and match, paid time off, fitness reimbursements, and a discounted employee stock purchase plan.
