Long Description

Our multinational chemical firm is seeking an experienced Sr Accountant to perform general accounting duties in support of North America legal entities. The position will require close collaboration with our Shared Service Centers. This role is central to ensuring the integrity of our financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a robust understanding of accounting principles and strong communication skills. The position will be based in the Northeast Tri-State area and will primarily report functionally to the Regional Controllership Organization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing under US GAAP, following financial standards and procedures of IFF.
Monitor the performance of key controls, maintaining thorough documentation to satisfy SOX compliance requirements.
Review balance sheet reconciliations.
Prepare and review journal entries.
Prepare insightful commentary for month-over-month, quarter-over-quarter, and year-over-year fluctuation analysis for single-entity financial statements, including P&L statements, underlying cost centers, and key balance sheet metrics.
Participate in the budgeting & forecasting cycles at the business-entity level and at the business-unit level within the individual business entities.
Participate in periodic budget vs. actuals analysis for areas throughout the business, including management of the direct costs of the business and overhead/absorption costs and allocations.
Coordinate internal and external audit requests.
Support the tax team on tax audits and support site management on various government inspections.
Support the HR team on matters specifically related to employee benefits, pension accounting, and related topics.
Ensure that corporate, regional and local accounting policies are strictly followed.
Ad hoc internal reporting as required.
Be the lead contact to the regional leadership team and provide the necessary support for finance and accounting matters.

Short Description

  • Proficiency in US GAAP.
  • Excellent computer/systems capability, including Microsoft Excel and ERP proficiency (SAP Central Finance experience is a must and Oracle experience is a plus).
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ethical leadership.
  • Understanding of internal controls concepts, Sarbanes-Oxley section 404.
  • Drive for results, problem solving, customer focus and strategic agility.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Accounting or Finance degree
  • Experience: 5+ years finance / accounting experience
  • Certified Public Accountant is a must.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENT:

  • Limited travel, with some travel to New Jersey office.
