Your Work With Us

Reporting to a Senior Engineering Manager, the person in this position will explore a wide range of technologies and collaborate with different teams within EADP and game teams worldwide. The aim is to drive innovation and performance for EA's upcoming games, ensuring that our engineering solutions are both effective and efficient.

This role involves a mix of leadership and hands-on technical work. You'll be guiding a team towards maintaining high standards in their work, from performance and maintainability to quality and automation. You'll also be involved in collaborating with various stakeholders to understand their needs, helping to scope, plan, and design software solutions that are well-documented, maintainable, and meet EA's quality standards.

In terms of technical leadership, this position calls for someone who can mentor and support the team's professional development. You'll be championing best practices in software development, engaging in the technical direction, and contributing to the design and implementation of features.

Your Experience

To be successful in this role, you should have at least 10 years of relevant industry experience, including a minimum of 2 years in a leadership role. A passion for managing high-performing teams, an ability to motivate and develop team members, and a strong technical foundation, are essential. You have demonstrated deep experience with cloud platforms, container technologies, and continuous integration and deployment practices, having successfully deployed large-scale web applications designed to support high traffic volumes and mission-critical services, ensuring robustness, scalability, and reliability.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of highly engaged engineers, fostering a culture of performance, maintainability, quality, and automation.
  • Collaborate effectively with various stakeholders, to align solutions and achieve optimal outcomes for all parties involved.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and career guidance, ensuring the professional growth and development of team members.
  • Work collaboratively with external teams, customers, product managers, and program managers to understand requirements and scope, aiming for timely delivery of high-quality software products.
  • Champion software development best practices, including clean code and architecture principles, and implement them within the team.
  • Participate in and oversee project scoping, planning, design, and execution, ensuring solutions are well-documented, testable, and maintainable.
  • Advocate for and contribute to the development of scalable, performant services and APIs, leveraging your expertise in cloud technologies.
  • Drive technical direction, design, and implementation for features, applying your knowledge to deliver innovative solutions.
  • Engage in architecture, design, and code reviews, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience.
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience, with at least 2+ years in a leadership role managing and mentoring a technical team.
  • Strong foundational knowledge in team management theory, motivation techniques, and career development practices.
  • Proficiency in object-oriented programming and experience with functional programming.
  • Extensive experience in building scalable products and services on cloud platforms, particularly AWS, and in using container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with Continuous Integration, Delivery, and Deployment best practices, and proficient in using tools like GitLab, GitHub, Bitbucket, and Git.
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities, a 'can-do' attitude, and a strong sense of ownership and detail orientation.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to deliver technical presentations and produce high-quality technical documentation.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The base salary ranges listed below are for the defined geographic market pay zones in these locations. If you reside outside of these locations, a recruiter will advise on the range and benefits for your specific location.

Pay offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.


BASE SALARY RANGES

* California (depending on location e.g. Los Angeles vs. Sacramento):
$161,100 - $239,700 USD Annually
* New York (depending on location e.g. Manhattan vs. Buffalo):
$142,900 - $239,700 USD Annually
* Jersey City, NJ :
$187,400 - $239,700 USD Annually
* Colorado (depending on location e.g. Denver vs. Colorado Springs):
$153,100 - $206,200 USD Annually
* Washington (depending on location e.g. Seattle vs. Spokane):
$142,900 - $230,000 USD Annually
* British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria):
$133,400 - $193,200 CAN Annually

Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. In the US, we offer a package of benefits including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours per year of sick time, 16 paid company holidays per year, 10 weeks paid time off to bond with baby, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity. For British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
