In this role, you will assist in planning, designing, and directing engineering projects within the business unit.

Position Responsibilities

  • Performs the design of the mechanical (HVAC) systems, including but not limited to air distribution ductwork systems, hot water, chilled water and condenser water pumping and piping systems, steam and condensate piping systems, central plants, air handling systems, dehumidification systems, automatic control systems and ancillary heat transfer systems for pharmaceutical, biotech and life science facilities.
  • Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software to perform engineering and energy savings calculations including IESVE, Carrier HAP and eQUEST.
  • Assist in engineering studies and schematic design for new mechanical systems and analyzes the operation of existing systems. Analyze existing HVAC and utility generation systems and equipment and determine applicability for use in renovation projects.
  • Creates specialized drawings, such as operations matrices, elevations, or details and diagrams.
  • Modifies reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, environmental impact studies, and designs for projects.
  • Makes calculations, using engineering formulas and skills for design such as heating and cooling loads, lighting calculations, power distribution calculations, and equipment sizing.
  • Selects equipment based on recommendations of the Project Designer/Engineer and fills out equipment schedules.
  • Provides drawings for own designs and produces sketches.
  • Researches design options and documents findings for Project Designer/Engineer.
  • Keeps Lead Engineer informed of workload and any changes in project scope or additional services.
  • Researches code issues and asks general questions of code officials.
  • Organizes and maintains project files.
  • Assures that drawings and designs are in accordance with company production and design standards.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of engineering experience.
  • Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • EIT or Professional Engineer (PE) is preferred.
  • General knowledge of system design and applicable codes in specific discipline-related areas.

Travel based on the project location. This position is a safety-sensitive position. The employee is designated for field work and attends activities at client sites where they work in construction, process, packaging, manufacturing, research, or other "non-administrative" areas.
