The Publishing Distribution Associate reports directly to the Senior Manager of Publishing Administration and is responsible for managing internal and external processes related to the Publishing division's printing, warehousing, and fulfillment functions. Tasks include daily oversight of PLI's printing and distribution-related vendor relationships, processing book releases through PLI's business systems, and maintaining book inventories. The Associate is also responsible for maintaining accurate product listings and fulfilling orders from PLI Press' third-party distributors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the main point of contact with printing, warehousing, distribution, and compression binder vendors for daily operations.
  • Manage inventory orders for books and related components (such as binders), making sure to maintain adequate stock levels.
  • Remain apprised of book (and related component) inventory counts at PLI's offices, at vendor warehouses, and at 3rd party distribution channels, replenishing inventory as needed.
  • Process book (treatise and answer book) releases through PLI's business systems.
  • Perform first round of troubleshooting errors encountered in book release systems, escalating to IT and Accounting where necessary, and seeing issues through to a satisfactory conclusion.
  • Review invoices to ensure accuracy of services and submit for approval.
  • Fulfill orders for and maintain accounts with PLI's 3rd party distribution channels (Amazon), maintain listings (schedule, new editions).
  • Other duties, as assigned.

RELATIONSHIPS

Within the department: Maintains close contact with the Vice President of Publishing & Legal Information Services, Editor-in-Chief, Director of Digital Publishing, Senior Manager of Publishing Production, Senior Manager of Publishing Administration, and the Associate Manager of Publishing Administration.

In other departments: Maintains close contact with the Art, Information Technology, Marketing, and Accounting departments.

External: Maintains close contact with printer, compression binder vendor, warehousing operation, and distributor.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 2-4 years of experience in Publishing in a similar role, preferably in professional or educational publishing.
  • Extremely organized and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent computer skills with knowledge of file formats, Excel, and Word.
  • Demonstrated initiative, a self-starter.
  • Experience working in corporate business systems desirable.

Compensation Range for this position

$58,500-$62,500 per annum (Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.)
