We are working on a hybrid schedule, 3 days in the office, 2 at home.

This Quality Engineer will accept a role in ensuring Cognex products are built and designed with exceptional quality. There will be frequent opportunities to effectively interface with design, process, test, and manufacturing engineering to solve product issues and production problems.

The Team:

By working with all Cognex business units, Our Operations Engineering team ensures that all new products being introduced into our global supply chain meet our high quality design and development standards. The Quality Assurance Engineering team focuses on ensuring that quality during the NPI phase and maintaining throughout design changes and product updates.

Essential Functions:

  • Compile, monitor and report quality metrics including identifying and/or preparing action plans for improvements.

  • Work with teams to define and develop action plans and support timely closure of Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPA).

  • Troubleshoot process problems, define root causes, coordinate implementation of corrective actions and verify corrective action effectiveness.

  • Utilize quality principles and problem-solving skills (risk analysis, statistical techniques, etc.) to address product design and manufacturing issues.

  • Analyze and debug product issues and develop solutions to meet quality goals.

  • Analyze failure data and take corrective action and drive continuous improvement throughout the product lifecycle.

  • Create and enforce qualification standards across multiple product lines and functional departments.

  • Create clearly-written, fact-based reports on trending failures and other product-related problems.

  • Perform root cause analysis on product field failures and drive corrective actions.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Extensive knowledge of or the ability to quickly learn production processes.

  • Ability to interpret all customer documents and related specifications.

  • Ability to drive results quickly with attention to detail.

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize.

  • Knowledge of lean and six sigma methodologies preferred.

  • Optical or Electronics experience is a plus.

Minimum education and work experience required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in manufacturing, mechanical, electrical, or equivalent engineering.

  • 2 - 5 years of experience in relevant, high-tech, electronics and electro-mechanical products.
