The anticipated salary range for this role is between $85,000.00and $90,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Description

Perform collection activities for supported products. Manage the review and collection of delinquent payments; work with customers to negotiate and implement repayment plans and resolve delinquency status on accounts. Achieve debt recovery targets, adhering to policies and procedures, regulatory requirements.

Role Objectives: Delivery

Perform collection activities for supported products (e.g., consumer loans, credit card, commercial accounts, loan portfolios, etc.); manage the review and collection of delinquent payments, work with customers / borrowers to negotiate and implement repayment plans and resolve delinquency status on accounts. Achieve debt recovery targets, adhering to policies and procedures, regulatory requirements. Liaise with internal credit review teams to assist with analyzing the merits of each case; assess the borrower's credit, income, assets, collateral, etc. in order to reach repayment solutions and make credit recommendations and/or approve extensions. Coordinate and complete tracking, analysis and reporting of collections activity and communications. Prepare regular reporting to regulatory and insurance parties (FNMA, PMI) and validate credit bureau submissions for accuracy. File insurance claims as required in order to recover monies and mitigate losses.This is a hybrid role requiring applicants to be in the office a minimum of two days per week.

Role Objectives: Interpersonal

Contact customers with delinquent status accounts via telephone or in person to secure repayment. Work closely with lending operations teams, including credit review loan servicing, etc., as well as management, credit analysts and attorneys as part of an integrated approach to loss mitigation and collections. Demonstrate excellent listening skills and openness to feedback in order to enhance personal and team productivity and performance. Demonstrated positive and professional attitude and reliability.

Role Objectives: Expertise

Demonstrate knowledge of loan collection policies, procedures and effective techniques. Exhibit working knowledge and understanding of credit lending principles and collections laws and regulations. Demonstrate knowledge of online collection systems.

Qualifications and Skills

Recommended years of experience: 3 years of commercial collections experience.

Advanced Excel skills
