Posting Summary | Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Lead Public Safety Telecommunicator for the Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O). Under direction, a Lead Public Safety Telecommunicator leads, oversees and participates in the more complex and difficult work of staff responsible for performing a variety of duties involved in answering, processing, prioritizing, and dispatching incoming emergency and non-emergency calls for service using a computer-aided dispatching system. A Lead Public Safety Telecommunicator is an essential part of the Public Safety team that receives calls from the public concerning law enforcement, fire, or medical emergencies; serving as the vital link between emergency personnel in the field and the public. Based upon information provided by either the caller or field personnel (police, fire or EMS); the Lead Public Safety Telecommunicators evaluates the situation and decides which services to utilize by relaying instructions, asking questions, and obtaining pertinent information.
