  • To be a trusted and respected independent control function that aims to protect the bank from financial crime risk.
  • To establish a proactive framework to prevent, detect, investigate and report bank-wide financial crime risk events

Overview

AFC is responsible for Deutsche Bank's overall Anti-Money Laundering Program, including oversight of the New Client Adoption ("NCA"), Know Your Customer ("KYC"), transactions and products processes giving rise to potential financial crime. The Americas Head of Business Lines AFC serves as a key advisor to Americas (CUSO) businesses and functions in matters relating to AFC risk. This includes AFC risks posed by clients, products and services as well as overseeing the implementation and operation of AFC controls such as: KYC for High Risk clients, with a specific focus on Regular (aka Periodic) KYC Reviews, Event Driven Reviews and remediation of KYC files. A successful candidate will learn how to navigate the complexity of the organization across the global and regional AFC, Business Operations, Legal, Client Lifecycle Management ("CLM") and Business teams.

What You'll Do:

  • Support AFC Americas Leadership in the day-to-day management of the AFC Function
  • Provides AFC SME advice and support to DB's senior management, business divisions and other infrastructure functions with respect to AFC related matters.
  • Provide advice on AML/CTF and KYC policies in accordance with US law and regulations. ts
  • Oversee a team responsible to for the development and ongoing maintenance of US AML/CTF Policy and US KYC Policy
  • Ensure effective implementation of relevant strategies and key operating procedures and executes relevant controls for the Americas AML and BLAFC function
  • Ensures the required expertise of staff and the adequate independence of the AML & Business Line AFC function regionally
  • Ensure the proper organization of the AML & Business Line function for AFC regionally and the adherence to core organizational requirements.
  • Approve regional escalations for New Product Approval/New Transaction Approval
  • Assist with and advise on any regulatory examinations or requests involving regional AFC matters
  • Work with AFC and Business stakeholders to develop responses to new or changing AFC requirements arising from local laws or regulations
  • Facilitate the adoption of a consistent and firm-wide approach to AML Policy and AFC risk within the region
  • Communicate relevant critical issues to Americas Regional Head of AFC and Global Heads of BLAFC
  • Assess how values and beliefs can be anchored into AFC advice and controls.
  • Senior point of escalation and advice for regional client AFC risk issues
  • Represents the AML & Business Line function towards internal / external stakeholders.
  • Delivery of remediation actions owned by AML and BLAFC regionally
  • Manages the Business Line AFC teams to support the risk assessment as required to determine the AFC risk profile of the Bank.
  • Drive and foster collaborative relationships within the AFC function and between AFC and the business

How You'll Lead:

  • Role requires managing issues/concerns escalated by various stakeholders with minimal oversight and being held accountable for decisions made by their team and themselves on day to day basis, inclusive of regulatory/audit findings. Additionally, the role will be measured by findings, red flags and peer feedback. Role will have key interactions with stakeholders including Regional business heads, Regulator/audit, Global & Regional BLAFC, Head of KYC and other Control functions heads

Skill's You'll Need:

  • Extensive experience in Financial Crime in a global leadership position within Financial Services
  • Product knowledge across Corporate & Investment Banking
  • Proven experience with regulators and managing applicable regulatory examinations
  • Experience operating in and leading teams within a matrix structure and/or multinational organisation(s)
  • Understanding of Americas AML regulatory requirements and expectations
  • Familiarity with the 4th AML Directive (i.e. enacted by the German Anti-Money Laundering Act and German Banking Act)

Expectations

It is the Bank's expectation that employees hired into this role will work in the New York office in accordance with the Bank's hybrid working model.

The salary range for this position in New York is $280,000 to $400,000.Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's skill set, experience, education, work location and other qualifications. Posted salary ranges do not include incentive compensation or any other type of renumeration.
