A member of the psychiatric staff who is responsible for the care of assigned patients under the direct supervision of a licensed clinician. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities
- 1. Assists the clinician with the care of patients.
- 1.1 Assists in obtaining, preparation and serving of snacks/lunch on a daily basis under the direction of a supervisor.
- 2. Coordinates transportation of patients.
- 2.1 Rides on the van providing assistance to patients to and from programs and/or to outside appointments.
- 3. Acts as liaison between REACH program and schools, outside agencies/clinicians and families.
- 3.1 Makes contact with schools on a daily basis for timely pickups and attendance information.
- 4. Acts as patient advocate.
- 4.1 Assists patients in completion of admission forms within REACH or for other agencies.
- 5. Assists in milieu management.
- 5.1 Participates in de-escalation management of patient.
- 6. Provides clerical duties as needed.
- 6.1 Assembles and breaks down charts.
- 7. Maintains up to date knowledge or skills to care for patients in varying age groups.
- 7.1 Demonstrates and maintains current knowledge and skill in providing appropriate care for geriatric, adult, young adult or pediatric patients and families.
- 8. Performs other related duties as needed and/or directed.
- 8.1 Willingly assists other members of the health care team as directed as observed by supervisor.
- 9. Is knowledgeable in the policy and procedures of seclusions for the Child Program. Provides coverage to other departments as needed.
- 9.1 Meets yearly competencies for application of seclusion protocol.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree or Associate's degree in a related field (e.g. psychology, biology, cognitive science, public health, social work, education) is preferred. High School Diploma is required.
EXPERIENCE:
Any experience in healthcare is preferred with a Bachelor's degree. 2 years' experience in healthcare is required with an Associate's degree. 5 years' experience in healthcare is required with a high school diploma.
SPECIAL SKILLS:
- Ability to apply principles of comprehensive, patient-centered, developmentally appropriate, socially/culturally/psychologically sensitive care coordination services
- Interest in serving the community through helping all patients access care
- Ability to learn to understand what resources will best serve which patients
- Outstanding verbal (oral and written) and non-verbal communication skills that reflect professional, appropriate, effective, and tactful approaches to interacting with patients, family members, department staff, non-department staff, and staff at community resources
- Excellent discretion and professionalism regarding sensitive and private issues
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
- High level of self-motivation and desire to problem solve
- Desire to learn and grow both personally and professionally
