Job Summary

Works in partnership with department and health system leadership to ensure the successful management of an assigned portfolio of outpatient clinics. Partners with departmental leadership to provide oversight for the operational and financial performance of the assigned clinics, including coordinating institutional resources to optimize patient access, clinical workflows, quality/safety programs, facilities, and strategic planning to achieve integrated clinic operations and Health System objectives. Co-ordinates and provides input for budgets. Assists senior executives and department leadership with business plan development and operationalizing clinical programming. Executes strategic initiatives as set forth by the Ambulatory Services Committee and executive leadership. Assists in development and training for clinical practice managers and clinic managers. Leads transformation of processes to create an optimal patient experience ensuring staff/provider engagement and satisfaction.

Experience and Education

* Master's degree in business administration, health care administration, public health, nursing, or related discipline and seven (7) or more years of health care management experience. In addition, at least four (4) years of experience is needed at the manager level or above in ambulatory practice management. A Bachelor's degree and additional years of directly related work experience may be considered in lieu of stated degree requirements.

* RN licensure in the state of Texas or professional certification by the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) and/or the American College of Medical Practice Executives (CMPE/FACMPE) is preferred but not required. Experience in an academic medical setting is preferred.

Job Duties

* Responsible for an assigned portfolio of outpatient clinics. Partners with departmental leadership on operational and financial initiatives in coordination with governance committees and establishes efficient and high-quality patient outcomes. Works with department leadership and the Ambulatory Services Committee to direct the translation of strategic priorities into daily operations in keeping with departmental goals and objectives.

* Assists in developing clinic management and supports clinic medical directors in meeting goals, and performance metrics including patient access, patient flow, patient satisfaction, revenue cycle metrics, and physician productivity measures. Collaborates with the department/health system's clinical leadership to ensure patient safety and regulatory compliance.

* Oversees activities and initiatives developed and implemented to improve operational processes and productivity. Monitors development of ambulatory specifications and establishes priorities. Leverage resources in Ambulatory Services and across the organization to facilitate projects on behalf of clinics. Presents data and program information.

* Partners with departmental leadership on strategies to promote employee satisfaction, retention, and talent acquisition. Promotes a culture of customer service aimed at creating an optimal patient experience and a collaborative work environment. Develops reward and recognition tools to promote exemplary performance in keeping with institutional core values.

* Collects, interprets, and documents specifications required to develop new and revise existing programs. Participates in development of project proposals for customers and coordinates vetting/approval with stakeholders.

* Makes formal presentations to various senior level audiences. Serves on committees as representative of assigned program as appropriate.

* Initiates and leads efforts to design complete, concise and comprehensive policies and operation procedures. Leverages tools to develop training for management and staff ensuring effective clinic operations. Recommends new policies and procedures for improvement of program activities.

* Interprets, explains, and discusses analytics and outcomes with project teams. Makes recommendations and support strategies for improving clinical processes and patient outcomes including management of patient responsiveness, call triage, documentation of care, wait times, and care management.

* Partners with departmental and physician leadership on space utilization and ongoing facility development and maintenance.

* Performs other duties as assigned.

* Work requires strong interpersonal communication skills and analytical ability sufficient to evaluate data, make sound judgments and recommendations.

* Work requires strong project management and problem solving skills with the ability to work independently, achieve tight deadlines and take initiative on multiple projects.

* Work requires ability to demonstrate the ability to work well with management, physicians, and other professionals in a direct and positive manner.

* Work requires working with departments to design and document operational procedures to support transactions processing and compliance with established regulations.

Working Conditions

* Work is performed primarily in general office area.
