Location:
New York, NYSeeking an efficient, flexible, seasoned copyediting professional to work as a Copy Manager for the Conde Nast Content Integrity Group (CIG), a shared-resources division of copy editors and researchers who support a range of consumer titles and content (print web, tablet, video, etc.). The Copy Manager will focus on quality assurance for at least one national consumer title, particularly during print shipping, or for a web site, when content is tied to an event, and support multiple titles as needed. The Copy Manager will review content with an eye on the following: typos in spelling, in addition to punctuation, grammar, context, continuity, repetition, sensitive language, readability, style, and brand tone. The Copy Manager will collaborate with a Copy Director, the Global Copy Director, the CIG team, the Global Workflow team, and the brand to support content and workflows, and may participate in and/or lead projects initiated by CIG Copy and/or the Global Copy Director. This is not a supervisory role. This role may change as the needs and priorities of the company evolve.
Primary Responsibilities
Deep-dive copyediting from manuscript through shipping on print titles, in addition to websites and digital platforms as necessary
Light line editing as necessary
Work with Copy Director and the Global Copy Director to support/assess workflow
Work with Art Production team and brand management to meet deadlines
Attend brand and CIG meetings as requested
Ensure that copy workflow is in line with global recommendations
Work on ancillary content as needed
Manage copy flow in Copy Director's absence
Requirements
At least 5 years' experience copyediting consumer magazines
Proficiency in InCopy/K4 a plus
Strong knowledge of language trends and familiarity with a range of style guides
Excellent command of the English language
Eagle eye for detail
Ability to quickly and easily toggle between the editorial functions and the technical aspects of the role
Ability to meet deadlines, problem-solve, manage time effectively and creatively, and remain calm under pressure
Excellent communication skills
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and switch gears
Affable nature and adaptable personality
Ability to embrace new structures, platforms, technology, and programs with ease
Ability to serve as a cooperative team member who takes direction as well as initiative
Digital/web/CMS experience a plus
The expected base salary range for this position is from $72,000-$98,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to relevant skills, training, experience, and education.
