THE ROLE
The Barista reports to the Food and Beverage Manager. Barista responsibilities include educating customers on our drink's menu, making recommendations based on their preferences, and up-selling special items and taking orders. To be successful in this role, you should have customer service skills and knowledge of how brewing equipment operates. You should also be able to work various shifts.
This position will interact with everyone in the hotel so you must have strong and adaptable interpersonal skills, meaning you can get along with anyone. Another key need for this role is their ability organize drinks as customers place their order. Getting the details right for a client or guest can possibly make or break their experience.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
  • Uphold and role model the company's principles of People, Place and Character; and ensure you are also modeling the way of our values that drive collaboration, intuition and translocal hospitality; use discretion and respect the privacy of the hotel's clients and guest
  • Provide customers drink menus and answer their questions regarding ingredients
  • Take orders while paying attention to details (e.g., preferences of coffee blend, dairy and sugar ratios)
  • Prepare beverages following recipes
  • Serve beverages and prepared food, like cookies, pastries and muffins
  • Receive and process payments (cash and credit cards)
  • Keep the bar area clean at all times
  • Maintain stock of clean mugs and plates
  • Check if brewing equipment operates properly and report any maintenance needs
  • Comply with health and safety regulations
  • Communicate customer feedback to managers and recommend new menu items
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
  • Previous work experience as a Barista or Server
  • Hands-on experience with brewing equipment
  • Knowledge of sanitation regulation
  • A flexible schedule, as sometimes you may have to work evenings, weekends, or a holiday as events don't only happen during the week
