Department OverviewThe Product Development & Operations Group at IPVideo design and manufactures IoT based products for the safety and security industry. The team has developed the HALO and SentryERS products and continues to develop many more to add to the product portfolio. Within the Product Development team, the Test and Compliance Electrical Engineer will conduct testing and compliance efforts to ensure our products meet our high-quality standards and conformance needs in a timely manner.Job Description

We are searching for a Test Engineer II who will design, execute, and record testing activities for hardware and software/firmware for Electronics systems and components. This individual will be responsible for troubleshooting nonconforming items, providing corrective actions and mistake proofing plans. This Test Engineer II will also lead the compliance efforts for IPVideo, ensuring all current and new products meet compliance requirements for UL, FCC, RoHs, ISO etc. Lastly, this person will be responsible for compiling compliance submittals, interfacing with testing labs/agencies and maintaining certification documentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Testing Electronics: Creating and documenting test procedures for testing of product hardware and software/firmware. The engineer shall be responsible for compiling the results generated using these procedures.
  • Test Fixture Design: In conjunction with the engineering team, design, assemble and verify test fixtures used for production and product verification.
  • Component Evaluations: Evaluate components for suitability of use in our products through thorough testing, providing guidelines for implementation.
  • Product Evaluations: Evaluate complimentary and competitive products through thorough testing.
  • Electronics Design: Review and provide guidance on electronics design to ensure designs meet applicable certification requirements.
  • Troubleshooting and maintenance: Identifying and resolving Electronics issues and malfunctions in existing systems, performing regular maintenance tasks, and implementing upgrades or repairs as needed.
  • Compliance for Electronics: Submit and guide our electronics through relevant certification agencies, including but not limited to UL, RoHS, and FCC.
  • Project Management: Planning testing and compliance projects, including defining scope, setting timelines, managing resources, and coordinating with stakeholders to ensure successful project completion.
  • Keeping up with regulatory advancements: Staying updated on the latest trends and advances in Electronics regulations ensuring our products meet the latest requirements.
  • Communication: Communicate with the Director of Engineering and the Project Management department to implement company strategies.
  • Documentation and reporting: Maintaining accurate records, preparing technical reports, and documenting all aspects of testing and regulatory projects, including specifications, test results, and modifications.
  • Continuous learning and professional development: Engaging in lifelong learning, attending conferences, workshops, and training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills in Electronics engineering and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics engineering or a similar field
  • 4+ years of experience in testing and regulatory experience, industrial or medical fields preferred.
  • Strong experience, including the following preferred areas:
    • OpAmp circuits
    • Filters
    • Power supplies
    • Buck & Boost converters
    • ADC & DAC applications
    • Schematic capture
    • I2C, SPI, & UART
    • Audio CODECs, amplifiers, microphones, and speakers.
    • Isolated input/output
    • Ethernet, USB2 & USB3.
    • IoT and power sensitive products.
    • Use of basic sensors, including Hall effect, temperature, and humidity
    • PC Board Engineering, including ground planes, high frequency, and high currents.
    • Passive component selection.
    • Electronics troubleshooting.
    • UL compliance for Safety, Emissions, Lasers etc.
    • FCC regulations and compliance requirements.
    • RoHS, WEEE, Prop65 regulation requirements.
    • Global electronics requirements.

This position is based in Bay Shore, NY and this candidate must reside in the Greater area as you will be required to go into the office.

The base salary range for this position in New York is $90,000 - $110,000 depending on experience.
