Job Overview

The Assistant General Counsel, Healthcare is responsible for providing transactional support and legal counsel to the Sales and Service Units within Getinge Surgical Workflow and Infection Control and Life Science business areas for North America and Canada.

Job Responsibilities and Essential Duties

  • Draft, review and negotiate sales and service agreements including master sales and service, pricing, group purchasing organization, confidentiality, and security agreements.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate supplier and distribution agreements.
  • Support projects related to sales and pricing programs. Provide legal counsel to the business areas.
  • Collaborate with Customer Support Team including providing contracts training, and legal guidance on sales and service transactions. Support development of contract templates, playbooks, protocols, and other legal guidance documents.
  • Provide legal guidance to the Sales and Service Units on compliance, quality and regulatory requirements including Anti-Kickback Statute, False Claims Act, Quality Regulations, Food Drug and Cosmetic Act, and other material laws and regulations.
  • Assist with corporate governance matters, including drafting shareholder and board consents, for the North America SWIC and Life Science entities including Getinge Canada.
  • Maintain and organize document management system for SWIC and Life Science entities.
  • Maintain Getinge's high standards for ethical behavior and compliance with laws and regulations in all activities.
  • Contribute to the Legal function's expertise, best practices, and cross-functional processes to help consistently manage global legal and enterprise risk.

Minimum Requirements

  • 4-5 years of in-house legal experience, preferably at a medical device, pharmaceutical or healthcare company preferred.
  • Experience providing legal counsel on healthcare laws and regulations in North America and Canada.
  • Corporate governance experience.
  • Prior experience negotiating commercial contracts.
  • Law degree from accredited legal program.
  • Admitted to at least one US state bar.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) is essential.

Quality Requirements:

  • Build Quality into all aspects of their work by maintaining compliance to all quality requirements.
  • Ensure compliance to all FDA and Worldwide Quality & Compliance regulations (As applicable to the job function).
  • Must have the education and experience to understand and comply with US and Worldwide medical device regulations (As applicable to your job function).
  • Attend all required Quality & Compliance training at the specified interval.
  • Adopt the "Beyond Compliance Quality Culture" in the work environment; always meet and exceed requirements.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work with commercial sales teams in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Drafting and negotiation skills for commercial sales, supply, and other procurement agreements.
  • Understanding of Privacy Laws
  • Personal and social attributes which tend to be innate or acquired which demonstrate the capability to perform the job responsibilities.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment to escalate issues to the appropriate level and propose solutions.

The base salary range for this position is a minimum salary of $140,000 and a maximum of $190,000 plus an annual bonus of 15%
