Job Description Summary

Neighborhood Impact & Preservation AmeriCorps VISTA member (VISTA) will work with the Neighborhood Impact team to advance its housing preservation, climate resiliency, and capacity building initiatives.

The VISTA will support projects that involve the design, implementation and/or evaluation of innovative affordable housing preservation and capacity building initiatives in New York State for Enterprise's community-based, public, and private affordable housing partners, and assist in the implementation of new programs.

Responsibilities

The Neighborhood Impact & Preservation VISTA member will provide a range of support for the implementation of housing preservation and capacity building initiatives, including:

  • Support the design and implementation of new programmatic initiatives, including a capacity building program for non-profits housing for people impacted by the criminal legal system, climate resiliency initiatives for multifamily housing, and preservation of affordable housing, including manufactured housing parks.
  • Support the growth and sustainability community land trusts, including convening grassroots and community-based partners, documenting impact, and identifying ways to further support partners.
  • Provide support to existing green and climate initiatives, including updating the Enterprise's Green Funding and Resources for New York Affordable Multifamily Housing guide for 2024.
  • Coordinate logistics for trainings on affordable housing topics, peer to peer roundtables, and stakeholderconvenings designed toshare program learnings and promote best practices.
  • Provide support for agenda planning, stakeholder engagement, meeting logistics, and capturing important takeaways and next steps.
  • Support ongoing programs and fundraising and track program lessons learned and outcomes for funders, partners, and internal use.
  • Administer contract and grant management by facilitating contractor/grantee due diligence, filing invoices and disbursement requests, and updating internal records.
  • Strategize how Enterprise can expand on and/or scale components of its housing preservation, climate resiliency, and capacity building efforts.
  • Conduct research and draft reports, white papers and blog posts to disseminate program priorities and best practices.

Requirements and Qualifications

This is a full-time yearlong paid position through the AmeriCorps VISTA program effective June 17, 2024 - June 17, 2025. Enterprise's New York City office is currently utilizing a hybrid work format. However, candidates must be able to work full-time in the office should Enterprise re-establish such requirements.

Applicants should meet the following requirements through AmeriCorps:

  • Be 18 years or older (no upper age limit).
  • Hold one of the following citizenship or legal residency statuses: US citizen, US National, Lawful Permanent Resident (i.e. Green Card status), and persons legally residing within a state.

In addition, applicants should meet the following qualifications through Enterprise:

  • Ability to work in-person in New York City at least 2 days per week/ Monday through Friday, 9 AM - 5 PM.
  • Completed an undergraduate degree.
  • Experience or demonstrated interest in affordable housing and/or community development and/or climate resiliency initiatives.
  • Competence with Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to translate complex information for non-technical audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to engage with diverse audiences.
  • Attention to detail and emphasis on accuracy and quality of work.
  • Strong time management and the ability to balance competing priorities or deadlines.
  • Willingness to ask questions and commitment to learn and apply new skills, approaches, and knowledge.
  • Experience conducting qualitative and/or quantitative research is a plus

The VISTA position will have responsibilities that will offer a high level of professional development. They will meet with key affordable non-profit, government, and philanthropic stakeholders that provide and support various programs and services. The VISTA will collaborate across various Enterprise departments, including the operations, communications, asset management department and the national team.
