Summary

The Operations Director of Settlements and Reorg oversees the receipt and delivery of securities (domestic and foreign) and money and daily reconciliation of the money balances due to or from the clearing organizations or the depository with books and records. The Director is also responsible for overseeing and managing adherence to industry rules, regulations, and securities laws and ensuring that actions taken comply with possession or control activities. They will also be responsible for disseminating and processing corporate actions - voluntary, mandatory, and timely and accurate tender offers, including working directly with DTCC and transfer agents to manage and reduce risk. The Director is also responsible for personnel, workflow, functions, and processes for their Settlements and Reorg departments and will actively participate as a member of management in determining and completing strategic back office/firm initiatives.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Establishes and develops department policies and procedures to comply with industry standards and regulations.
  • Directs, evaluates, hires, terminates, and counsels staff.
  • Oversees the department's day-to-day operations to ensure timely and accurate processing of settlement and reorg transactions.
  • Oversees the FINRA FINOP reporting program.
  • Plans and organizes the operations activities through subordinate staff.
  • Plans and ensures the training and development needs of the staff.
  • Promotes and demonstrates effective communication within and outside areas of responsibility.
  • Ensures consistent adherence to Corporate & Regulatory policies.
  • Designs projects necessary to improve the overall efficiency of the Operations area.
  • Interacts with internal/external auditors and regulators as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Strong working knowledge and thorough understanding of industry regulations affecting settlement processes (e.g., SEC Rule 15c3-3 and SEC Rule 15c3-1).
  • Deep understanding of brokerage operations with experience in settlement and reorg processes.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret industry rules and regulations.
  • Positive leadership and teamwork skills to effectively manage projects.
  • Ability to lead, train, and support team members to develop career progression within the department.
  • Excellent communication skills to present to internal/external business partners.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management and externally with auditors and examiners.

Education & Experience

  • Minimum Required: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum Required: 10+ years of experience within the financial services industry.

Licenses & Credentials

  • Minimum Required: SIE, FINRA Series 7, 63, and 24 (Series 27 is preferred).

Systems & Technology

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access (or SQL).
  • Thorough understanding of applicable BETA functions.
