Job Description

The Sustainability Program Specialist is part of the corporate Environment Social Governance (ESG) core team, manages the ESG data management aspect of the corporate ESG program, and supports various aspects of the ESG reporting and communication. The company's ESG program was launched in 2022 and this position plays a critical part in setting up and maintaining practices and processes that will support our future ESG disclosure, compliance and sustainability journey. The Sustainability Program Specialist works with all Specialty Generics and Specialty Brands sites, as well as corporate functional leaders across the organization.

Essential Functions

ESG data management

  • Understand the current ESG metrics mapping and associated future roadmap.

  • Manage the collection of ESG environmental data and track process adherence. This includes leading the monthly/quarterly gathering with the major sites (e.g., energy, water, waste, greenhouse gas emissions, health & safety), monitoring adherence to the process and timeline, as well as collecting/compiling data from other manual sources (e.g. small offices, fleet, etc).

  • Facilitate team or site-level calls to coordinate the data collection and review, as well as escalate any issue of non-adherence.

  • Analyze data trends, coordinate the quarterly reviews of the environmental data with the ESG data division leads and support the preparation of quarterly dashboards.

  • Support the collection of a wider range of annual corporate metrics in preparation for annual reporting.

  • Support any activity to document and improve the data processes, introduce new metrics to the teams, propose own improvement ideas and work closely with the Internal Control team.

  • In particular, get familiar with the GHG Protocol, keep the company GHG emission inventory management plan (IMP) up-to-date and propose methodology improvements where relevant.

  • Participate in future audit readiness activities and the preparation for future third party verification for GHG emissions.

  • Participate in the Scope 3 GHG emissions baselining exercise.

ESG systems

  • Maintain the ESG reporting system (Workiva), ensure correct access and controls are in place and set up new report or metric in the system, as required.

  • Manage the Workiva ESG data collection sheets, assign and send the monthly/quarterly tasks to the site-level ESG data owners and track the status on a regular basis.

  • Monitor the Energy data management system (Resource Advisor), upload monthly reports, review escalated issues (e.g., invoice availability, data accuracy) and liaise with the customer service manager as required

  • Own and improve the ESG Site Champions and Green Teams SharePoint shared with the ESG site champions and data owners, ensure access and documentation is up to date.

  • Participate in future automation project(s) as well as any activity to improve these systems, when required

ESG reporting

  • Support the content preparation of annual external reports and external assessments (e.g., sustainability report, Irish Filing, UK Carbon Reduction Plan, Ecovadis, Climate Disclosure Report) by gathering inputs from cross-functional teams, aggregating data, preparing metrics or documentation, and using relevant systems/platforms.

  • Get familiar with future ESG regulatory requirements (e.g. Californian rules, US SEC, EU CSRD) and ESG frameworks (e.g., TCFD, SASB, GRI) as part of the ESG core team, and support research and documentation to maintain regulatory awareness, when requested.

  • Support the ESG core team with new initiatives, such as the materiality and climate risk assessment.

ESG communication and external request

  • Review client or supplier requests received (related to ESG / Sustainability), prepare draft answers following the agreed database and process, and coordinate the cross-functional review.

  • Monitor the ESG@mnk.com email box.

  • Support the preparation of newsletters or presentations to communicate progress, successes or findings to the organization and/or key stakeholders.

  • Support the preparation of the annual Earth Day, and other Green Team activities, as required.

ESG core team

  • Support the ESG Core team with various requests and analysis, including the preparation of the ESG Steering Committee

  • Manage or support specific project, as required.

Minimum Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field (e.g., science, engineering. computer science) or business field (e.g., business administration, finance, statistics).

  • Degree in environmental science, sustainability or similar is a plus.

Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in a strong process and quality-oriented environment.

  • Experience with data collection processes and data management system.

  • Experience in setting up new processes and/or systems in a changing environment.

  • Experience with cross-functional project management.

  • Strong interest and experience in supporting sustainability initiatives.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and highly collaborative approach.

  • Resilient, self-motivated and able to work well under pressure.

Preferred Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Experienced in SharePoint sites and Microsoft Teams, with strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

  • Proven continuous improvement and process excellence mindset.

  • Results orientated with ability to plan and deliver against project deadlines.

Organizational Relationship/Scope:

Reports to Senior Director of Transformation. This role will also work closely with the Director of Sustainability and Social Impact. Exposure to senior leadership.

Must be able to establish effective working relationships with a broad range of internal and external personnel including site ESG champions, EHS managers, operational leadership, corporate functional leadership (e.g. Procurement, Compliance, Legal, Finance, Operations & Quality, IT, etc), third party providers.

Working Conditions:

Normal office conditions, with minimum travel required (up to 10%). Current hybrid working model is two days (Tuesday and Wednesday) in the office and three days remote. This operating model is subject to change due to business needs.
