The Opportunity:

The department is looking for a talented Senior Paralegal for the Intellectual Property (IP) section of the Law Department with relevant IP and transactional experience including experience with trademark clearance, IP prosecution, and agreement work. This role will be based in East Aurora, NY at the Fisher-Price campus. The role requires outstanding communication skills, attention to detail, the ability to organize, prioritize, and execute against multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment, an eagerness and aptitude for learning, a strong work ethic, and a positive can-do attitude. The ideal candidate should exhibit the ability to maintain a high-level of confidentiality, professionalism, and collaboration with team members, as well as be comfortable in a lean and rapidly changing environment. The position will provide a range of support to manage some of the most famous toy brands in the world, including the specific tasks set forth below.

What Your Impact Will Be:

  • Trademark Clearance & Prosecution, Copyright Registration, and other IP Support
    • Conduct and review trademark clearance searches globally and advise on availability
    • Assist with trademark prosecution, copyright registration, and design protection worldwide, including gathering evidence of use.
    • Engage with business teams on trademark clearance and related IP questions.
  • IP Agreements
    • Draft, amend, terminate, and manage a wide variety of intercompany agreements relevant to the areas of IP.
    • Support management and improvements of databases, inventory, templates, IP flow charts, licensing subsidiary lists and protocols, and other guidelines related to the foregoing.
    • Coordinate signature of intercompany agreements, licenses, and other documentation.
    • Develop, maintain, and advise on Mattel's corporate entity structure.
  • General
    • Manage IP databases, such as CPI
    • Other duties as assigned in support of the IP team.

What We're Looking For:

In addition to the skills and abilities identified in The Opportunity section above, we're looking for --

Experience

A minimum of five (5) years of experience as a paralegal, or equivalent experience at a law firm and/or in-house legal team

Education/Professional Licensing:

Undergraduate degree

Administrative Excellence.

Contribute to a culture that values strong practice administration. Excellent organizational skills a must, including planning, prioritization, organization, and time management. Should also have meticulous attention to detail, as well as the ability to create and follow standardized practices and procedures.

The hourly salary range for this position is between$34.00 - $42.00per hour.

** This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however annual base salary will be determined based on a candidate's work location, skill and experience.
