Job Description

The Legal Aid Society is seeking a Senior Accounts Payable Coordinator to join our Finance department. As a leader in providing legal services, Legal Aid is committed to increasing access to justice for low-income New Yorkers.

The Senior Accounts Payable Coordinator is responsible for monitoring the outflow of capital, record accounts payable transactions in compliance with US GAAP, maintain accurate vendor information in Financial Edge, and process purchase orders and vendor inquiries.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounts Payable Administration

  • Record all Accounts Payable transactions in adherence to US GAAP on a timely basis
  • Ensure all vendor information to record an invoice is entered accurately in Financial Edge
  • Address and resolve vendor inquiries
  • Provide excellent customer service with a sense of urgency to both vendors and LAS employees
  • Process purchase orders
  • Train temps and new hires
  • Assist in delegating invoices and check requests submitted to the AP mailbox
  • Process and pay vendor invoices
  • Gather required documentation for various audits, including program and external audits
  • Provide ad-hoc trouble shooting and technical assistance to other AP team members
  • Assist in overseeing the efforts of gathering required documentation for various audits, including program and external audits
  • Document and update Accounts Payable processes as necessary
  • Work on monthly analyses for more complex vendors
  • Special projects as requested

Professional Development and other duties as assigned

TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS

Required qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree or a combination of 4+ years education and related work experience
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and ability to review large volumes of data
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software

Preferred qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field preferred
  • Nonprofit experience preferred
  • Financial Edge experience a plus

Physical, environment, travel, and other duties required:

  • Mostly sedentary, significant time using a computer and monitor; communicating and meeting using video
  • Requires occasional or frequent physical movement to perform essential job functions which may include, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, standing or walking for long periods of time, accessing small spaces
  • May or will require travel within NYC, across the five borough region
  • Ability to lift 15 pounds on an occasional/routine basis

SALARY TRANSPARENCY

The posting reflects the range of potential salaries for the role. The specific salary offers will be dependent on candidate qualifications, including collectively bargained salary steps for unionized roles.

Salary Range/ Salary: $71,057
